Tourniquet
Having a nice blast down the a13 late tonight and all is fine. Driving along at 30 a little while later on normal roads and I get an oil smell through the vents and my pressure drops to 2 bar and my oil light comes on. I switch it off and open the bonnet and it looks like an oil can has expoloded under my bonnet - grrrrrrr. The car ran fine and started fine when I had to shift it (naughty I know but still had 2 bar of pressure and it was only for a few seconds) so am I right in thinking it could just be a gasket or something rather than something biggger. Oil seemed to be dripping from the cam cover and there was a nice pool on my belt. The rest seemed to be over my catch tray and alternator mainly so I am hoping but am not the best when it comes to mechanics unless it's something I've seen done before. Any suggestions welcome

little num
front crank seal mate, mine did the exaclty the same thing yesterday, i had changed it 3 days before as it was leaking, since putting the new 1 in the pump had blown the seal out so oil was running straight out past the seal filling the plastic cover up and then the belt was picking it up and spraying it everywhere. Best thing to do to check is simply jet wash the oil down fill it up to max then start it and rev slowly up to about 3 thou, if oil is running out the front bottom then new pump will be required as i tried the cheap way but didnt work, i have since glued to seal in and will try it today to see how i get on. Did it work in the end ? Ive had my engine taken out and looked at and the bloke reckons my bearings are shafted too. He said there's a leak from the pump, release valve and main crank seal and there's filings and sludge in my sump !!! CHING CHING !!!! tooquicktostop
Where did you take it in the end for the engine out
Tourniquet
Kream Developments moved round the corner from my house. I knew them from their old area and they've turned out some top high powered motors. I only took it in originally to get one of my pulley wheel things off coz I didnt have a puller, and to get the front crank seal put in but they're concerned with other probs too. Tourniquet
Ok now Ive had the bottom end rebuilt by Kream Developments and have to run it in for 500 miles which will be painful in itself but my main issue is this - it runs like a sck of shite ! It stalls just as quick as it fires up, stalls at junctions when I dip the clutch and the revs hover for a second or so when I let go of the gas. Am I right in thinking I need Ryan to just go over my map again or is it likely to be mechanical ?? It was lumpy when I first tested it but atleast it worked. After leaving it at mine for half hour then tyrying to go somewhere in it, I was starting to get the 'ump with it stalling all the time and just shoved it on the drive and took the focus ! bignum
You shouldn`t need a remap after a bottom end rebuild, sounds like they`ve forgotten something, timing not correct?

That sounds quite bad. Lets hope its something silly.
michel lane
sounds like the timing is off mark, get it back down there and ask them to sort the timing out.
little num
wondering if they have bent the timing star slightly so its not making a good contact, like i did on mine lol. Its very easy to do when you have no idea on how to do it. And yes mine is fine since and have also done over 200 hard miles. I was also told i needed a engine rebuild that would cost £5000 - £7000 but decided against this as im skint. Since redoing mine its working and runs like a dream.
