my lovely other half feels brain dead with day after day of looking after the kids, she likes the idea of IT or pschyology but has no idea how to get into this.

let me give you a little background tracie has a back problem witch stops here working at the moment and has had it since a young age,she has only basic gcse qualifications and idealy some training from home would be best as i work 4 on 4off 1 day rotation.

so any advice help for her before she goes completely mad,

many thanks

ps its urgent :D

unfortuantly (sp) the type of problem with my back can't be sorted but if i can get back to the point i was 3yrs ago and could manage the pain then that is all i want....

I started a pscyhology A level night class few years ago and loved it but again childcare in evening was a problem and had to stop mid course, i had thought of the OU classes as it would prob be more flexible with kids and tonys work, plus moving away i am now not around friends and family:(

I worry i'm just getting to old to think i'm capable of something like this now tho:(

Don't think like that Tracie. Stay positive. Too old indeed. :)

Do a foundation course and see how it fits with your schedule.

Although you may be past that due to the A level work.

Also, there are some good people here who may be able to help with your pain management. Post a thread and see.

Sincerely wish you the best with that.

I know i'd have to start with the most basic levels thats fine i appreciate we all have to start at the bottom etc..

Don't think i could ask for advice on my back tho i never talk about it.. i've learnt since i was 15 to control my emotions/pain as far as thats concerned but thank you chick:d

I've done both... under grad in Psychology and post grad Computer Science.. the combination of the two has been quite lucrative ;) but it's four years hard study to get them.

My advice would be do a joint honours Psych/IT Open University degree, and that way you'll get a taste for both and hopefully it will give you some direction for which one you fancy more.

It's worth mentioning that a Bachelor degree in Psychology doesn't really set you up for a job 'in Psychology'. You have to then (usually self fund) a post grad qualification to specialise in whichever field you want to go into; Child, Education, Occupational etc.

I did Psychology and really enjoyed it, but it was the IT degree that = £ :D

Good luck :)

Thanks mike, i remember reading up on the bachelor degree and it not necessarily gaining job status etc.. but what little i did do i thoroughly enjoyed..

So perhaps trying to do a bit of both would be a good idea to get a feel of what i really enjoy more.. obviously it'd be nice to do the one that one day earns the most.. but essentially i want to make use of what brain i have left and if i can earn a little aswell then cool...:)

I seriously miss working and got to do something!!
