mellonman
i can see why alot of people go single for the extra couple of grand. iv done over 100 k on my jspec so i gess i beter start saving me pennys lol.
hadyn
140k on my j-specs and still going very strong. Whats the best value twin turbo replacement if you just want a like for like replacement and keep the car running under 1.2 bar max? 3 grand to replace stock toyota items seems steep.... SimonT
This is the price for re-built ones from Paul but its on an exchange basis! http://garagewhifbitz.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage-ask.tpl&product_id=7627&category_id=2011&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=
hadyn
So the whifbitz rebuilt ones would be as good as replacing with fresh j-spec ceramics?
pistonbroke
So the whifbitz rebuilt ones would be as good as replacing with fresh j-spec ceramics? They should be better, being that they're not ceramics.
themodifiedkid
So the whifbitz rebuilt ones would be as good as replacing with fresh j-spec ceramics? By the lookof it they will be rebuilt using steel internals, i assume instead of ceramic. Im probably wrong tho as I have probably read it wrong anyway
hadyn
What about slower spool up times and a loss of low end power associated with hybrids compared to j-spec ceramics? Also a lot of people on here say that hybrids have hit and miss build quality. No experience myself, just what I have read on here... pistonbroke
Guess you'll just have to trust Mr Whiffen. If you can buy with confidence from anyone, I'd suggest it's probably him.
mellonman
whats the single to go for if you wanted to keep the faster spool like the twins?

Dont think I've ever read one bad word said about whifbitz on this forum
SimonT
I imagine spool up time wouldnt be very different if at all and it says you can run 1.4 bar through them!!
hadyn
I imagine spool up time wouldnt be very different if at all and it says you can run 1.4 bar through them!! Yep, but you would need supporting mods - bigger injectors, fuel pump, resistor pack and fuelling sorted through standalone ECU or SAFC etc.... I would want to run 1.2 bar tops on stock ECU and j-spec 440 injectors. Would these whifbitz turbos suit my needs?

As far as i know you can run that on j spec ceramics so i would think it would be fine?!

mellonman
so does anyone know what the fastest spooling single is that would give similar power as twins or is there no real point
martin1982
Going off on a slight tangent, has anyone had any dealings with http://www.fensport.co.uk and any of the hybrids they sell?
