bigbloodyturbo
Its pretty easy, only problems you migth run into is the discs being seized to the hub face which can be a problem if the discs have been on for ages, caliper bolts are a bitch to shift also. Mine almost sheared as they where loctited in.

glanov
it should be very easy buddy!! give it a go anyway no point in spending ££££ on laboure if its a fairly handy job
bigbloodyturbo
I just swapped over to ls400 calipers and I had set aside a whole day to do it but when I got to the caliper bolts I just couldn't get enough torque on them. In the end I took it to my local garage and I used his 3ft breaker on them but it was touch and go as to whether or not they would shear, you could almost feel the bolt want to snap. That was just mine though, I don't know if all jspecs have loctite on them.
supra_si
kk i just want to shell out for something that could be done by myself, i could just source them myself and get a garage to fit them for me, saves me getting ripped off with them sourcing the discs etc
bigbloodyturbo
Try it, its dead easy aslong as nothing is seized. I have used pattern discs on all my cars and fitted them myself and it has saved me a lot of money. Worst case scenario is you have to put the wheel back on and drive it to a garage, nothing gained nothing lost, give it a go.
supra_si
how are they held in, i have changed the pads before, whats the process to get the discs off??
glanov
they will either beat off or there will be a small screw type thing holding them on easy enough!! but someone can conferm this as iv not dun it on the supra yet lol
bigbloodyturbo
how are they held in, i have changed the pads before, whats the process to get the discs off?? Mine weren't held in by anything once the wheel came off, but they should have two screws that go in to locate the disc and hold it there whilst you mount everything. They sit flush with the surface of the disc and are usually a star head. In the past i've had them sieze on me but if they do you can just drill them out as it doesn't matter if you damage the old disc. After that all it needs is a few smacks with a rubber hammer and it should come away.

Homer
right well i will get some ordered tomorrow, cheers for the replies As others have said, it's an easy job provided you have the tools. Make sure you have a suitably strong torque wrench to get the caliper bolts torqued up correctly. The only gotcha is if the pistons need winding back, be very careful with this and make sure you have the right tools for the job, it is all too easy to damage a piston if they are not pushed back correctly. Are you replacing with OEM discs?
Scott
Just a quickie on this. How do you guys get the leverage on the caliper bolts without a ramp/pit. I have a 2ft breaker and can't budge them as i can't get any weight behind them. My hand is in the wheelarch and i can't get my weight above it. I want the calipers off to paint them. Going to do the brake lines and fluid too. Cheers
Homer
Just a quickie on this. How do you guys get the leverage on the caliper bolts without a ramp/pit. It's a bit tight, I normally remove the lower coilover bolt which allows the hub and caliper to be moved down a few inches which gets gives a lot more room to get a socket and breaker bar on.
