BlackWatch66
Hey, Im just trying to do a bit of DIY diagnostics on my '93 auto tt, I currently have a HKS EVC4 boost controller and an 'AutoMeter' boost gauge. At operating temp on idle; the BC displays circa 520 mmHg (or 20 InHg) the gauge shows 18 InHg (or 450 mmHg) which of the gauge and BC is more accurate and are these normal readings??? any help much appreciated:D
RobSheffield
I guess its a guage in PSI/BAR but these figures appear lower down? IF not can you not set it to show PSI or BAR? On idle you wont produce boost, only when engine is under load.
AndyT
520mmHG = 10.1 psi 20 InHG = 9.82 psi and 18 InHG = 8.84 psi 450 mmHG = 8.7 psi Max diff is 1.4 psi. Don't know if it's normal readings though.
BlackWatch66
sorry the Gauge shows InHg for -ve and PSI for +ve whereas the EVC4 BC displays mmHg for -ve and bar for +ve. strange I know, however I am interested in what the correct level of mmHg or InHg is on operating idle and also which of the two gauges are most accurate
RobSheffield
What guage is it? Where do they both read from? EDIT - just seen its autometer. Id say the HKS will be most accurate.
BlackWatch66
the gauge is an 'AutoMeter sport-comp' some american junk which i believe reads from the throttle control side?? and the BC where the air intake side is, sorry not tech minded:taped:
