martin1982
Currently replacing all fuses in the supra as I keep randomly loosing all electrical power (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=181951&highlight=clifford) thought I'd do this before I take it to an auto electrician to have them check the earth points. Am I going to have to go to those nice people at Toyota to get some, searched the interweb for ages and can't find any sites that sell them... Terminator
Don't replace fuses unless blown, just clean contacts. Have you cleaned and tightened your battery terminals and check connections to the car? have you checked your main EFI relays?

AlanM
I had a problem similar to this short ago, are you loosing all electrical power ie no warning lights, nothing at all, for just a couple of secs at a time? Mine turned out to be a loose plate in the battery
Homer
As has been mentioned, this is likely either a major earthing issue or a loss of positive feed from the battery. Check all main connectors in detail, especially the ones at the battery and the earth to the chassis rail just behind the battery. When you say loss of power, do the dash lights go out too? martin1982
Yes, dash lights, interior lights the lot. The first few times the loss of power was for a few mins so I needed to reset the stereo. The last couple of times it has been as if someone has literally disconnected then re-connected the battery instantly, so i lost all power, the fans re-set thenselves to "off" but the stereo saved its settings, this was when I was letting the car cool down on idle. It's not done it for the past few days tho, one of those lovely problems that comes and goes when it feels like it
martin1982
OK taking the car to Toyota on Thurs. Was told by the team that it will take them a while to check as the wiring/electrics are different on a Jap spec to a UK one, and that they will have to refer all diagnostics checks through Toyota... Am I about to get fiddled out of extra cash for no good reason?
AlanM
As said in post 6 mate, mine was similar
martin1982
Yeah gonna mention that to them when I take it in. Is there any way I can check that myself?
martin1982
OK got it sorterd, literally the day before I took it into Toyota! Mate took a look and spotted that the underside of the negative connector to the battery didnt look too healthy, so we took it off and saw that it was eroded and giving a bad connection. Replaced it and all is back to normal!

martin1982
True! Although I did feel a bit of a nonce when he spotted it after 2 minutes and I'd been agonising over it for weeks lol.
