How does it connect Geoff ? Is there a hotshoe adaptor or does it connect somehow to the wired connection?

I have a wired remote shutter release on my 300D and it just works, you don't need to change any settings. I'd presume that the camera would just work automatically if it was compatible :search:

I've just done a search, and realise it must use an IR sensor on the camera. one of the articles I found had this:

As this remote works via infra red you will need to be in front of the camera to fire the shutter.

could this explain anything?

Remember, though, these are infra-red and therefore line-of-sight.

The sensor is on the front of the grip just below the shutter release so you

basically have to be in front of the camera for it to work.

Maybe a problem with wildlife stuff?

I made a manual release with a cord that I could make an extension for. Check

this page for info if needed - http://www.chantalcurrid.com/remoteControl.htm

in the instructions it says:

,press the button and rotate main command dial until (delayed remote) or (quick response remote) is displayed in the control panel.
