mr lover
New To This So Here Goes I Have Got New 19 Inch Wheels For The Supe And Been Given Conflicting Advice To Tyre Pressures. The Front Wheels Are 8.5 X 19 With Toyo 235/35/19 T1s Tyres The Rear Wheels Are 9.5 X 19 With Toyo 265/30/19 T1s Tyres I Have Been Told 30 Psi By One Person And 32 Psi By Another Would Be Grateful For Your Views Thanks Gary
Bobbeh
Toyota recommend 36psi all around.
AndrewIV
On my 18s as a rule of thumb I never go above 35 psi. Thats the maximum, not the rule. Your tires will heat up as you drive so running anything over 35psi is highly not recomended. I have heard of drifters who have mondo tyre budgets running 40+ but they dont have to pay for them when they blow. The lower the pressure the better the grip. normore1
36 psi stock pressure should be fine. With 'Z' speed rated tires the chace of blowout due to overheating at slightly lower pressures is miniscule. Higher pressures tend to increase wear in the middle of the tread but generally increases overall tire life due to less squirm and heat generation. Lower pressures move wear to the edges. All things being equal (they rarely are)launch grip should be higher with lower pressures but skidpad and transient response is generally increased with higher pressures. You can influence the handling balance (oversteer or understeer) by changing the front/rear tire pressures to change the handling charecteristics.
