GeordieSteve
Skyline... No taa Nothing against them (mate has a GTS-T) but they do nowt for me. Looks like most people advise I stick with the Supra. Lots of mods done since I last drove her so lets see how she goes next week... NSX coming in a year or
SkyJawa
Get a 350Z and get your ass spanked by every Supra. My mate had one of the first - it was no match for my old Supe.......... NSX - good, but not fast enough. Evo - VERY expensive servicing (more than the supra), jap saloon box that corners well, shite fuel tank so you'll need a garage every 120 miles. Gazboy
When I went to Bruntingthorpe with Pistonheads, a P1, a PPP Scoob, a MX5turbo and the NSX turned up too. The NSX was considerably quicker in a straight line than my jdm Supra auto, and absolutely kicked my arse around that bottom bend comming onto the runway- he reached 157mph at the timing gear, I hit 149mph (the Scoobies hit 148 each iirc) and the MXT managed 139mph. SkyJawa
You are joking? The NSX is about 6.2 to
Bobbeh
He said JDM Auto, its gonna suck on the top end compared to a manual NSX.
Gazboy
You are joking? The NSX is about 6.2 to 60 We were roughly the same to sixty, he was three car lengths ahead by the ton, then he just f**ked off and left me for dead and he went on to 157, I only managed 149. Bobbeh
Gaz, what year NSX was it? The older ones were pretty bad but newer models run low 13 sec/high 12 1/4s in standard trim.
Gazboy
It was a 1994 3.0 5spd. You *may* see our race on monday night on 5th gear- if we aren't on the cutting room floor that is.
SkyJawa
That just doesn't sound right They are more known for handling than power..... Either way, go BPU and spank his ass
Gazboy
Through the corners only the RUF GT2 could touch him. Remember he has the same bhp as the Supra, a very revvy V6 and weighs about 200kg less- I might keep up with him/beat him a beat with BPU. but certainly wont kick his arse. Bobbeh
He doesnt have the same bhp, you should have more, him around 270-280, and turbo's are better for straight line.. I think the problem is you're auto and are losing 25% of your power through the transmission.
Gazboy
iirc at a NSX dyno day, most standard 3.0's were punting out 310-315bhp, the 3.2's were a fair bit more- I'll check...
Bobbeh
The one I saw with mods only put out 250 at the wheels, which is around 290-300bhp.
Gazboy
interesting, just copy n' pasted this from (an American) NSX website: My 1991 car, number 601, was an early model. Power at the rear wheels (stock) was 249 hp at just under 7500 rpm. My chassis dyno guy recommends a conversion factor of 1.26 x wheel hp to get engine, resulting in 313 hp. And remember Honda rated the engine at 270 hp. Losses are actually probably less because the power train does not need to bend the power through 90 degrees, the NSX is a side winder...so power is probably even greater. Anyhow, the stock NSX was a fair bit quicker than my stock JDM Supra, clearly bhp is for the pub.

Gazboy
Not yet, getting it done in the next few weeks at either Surrey RR or G-Force - want a baseline to compare before and after mods.

Bobbeh
Because I've been there and recommend them. Plus its good to have another dyno sheet from the same place to compare against.

Oh, I've been there before with my MR2 turbo, but also know the chap from SurreyRR- from what I understand they use the same calibrations and software as G-Force.
