GeordieSteve
Ok I'm tempted to sell up Gonna take a good reason for me to sell tho coz I do love the Supra. I've been looking into a couple of cars (Evo 5,6,7, NSX, 350Z) but don't know much about them. What's everyone opinion of the Evo? Not gonna be close to the power of the Supra I know but I can pick up a 2000 Evo for not far off the price of my Supra. Running costs and reliablilty? What's everyone opinion of the NSX? Ok I'll be looking at the budget NSX which worries me. The 3.2 is WAY too expensive so what's the 3.0 like? Running costs and reliablilty? What's everyone opinion of the 350z? Not the best looking car but VERY cheap for what your getting. Still a new car so no one really knows their common faults? Cheers!
imi
Those are all very very good cars that you have listed, but all are very different, And different to the supra. NSX- lovely car, honda reliability, VTEC NA engine and excellent handling and attested by Ayrton Senna's - what more do you want? Mind you, a decent example will be quiet expensive and IMHO they look very dated and boring....but it is a machine...and an awesome one. EVOs - again, point to point these things fly, but they look fugly......and ive been told that maintenance costs and running costs are ridiculously high. 4.5K services....etc I havent had my supra long enough to comment on how it would compare to a supra. GeordieSteve
I can understand the expense of the NSX... dunno if I can afford a decent model. Dating and boring... NO WAY! Check out this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18206&item=4540629671&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Just a jap ferrari! Guest Irish Supra
NSX Probably as rare as uktt6's!!!! Ultra reliable and supposed to be cheap to run. The EVO just doesn't do anything for me, just another 4-door-lost-in-the-crowd car.
Bobbeh
Not as rare than UKTT6's I bet.
Pete
NSX - Awesome EVO - Every other Gary has one - but excellent country driving fun. At the end of the day you're looking at three very different motors and it depends what you want out of a car. NSX - Straight road fun, rare and desirable. "The Wolf" in Pulp Fiction EVO - Rally thrash machine with room for passengers (VI was my fave for looks) 350Z - Designer looks, not much poke unless you modify. michael
NSX - Straight road fun. Eh? The NSX is all about handling.
imi
Just a jap ferrari! Was that supposed to support your argument.... I like the NSX, but sorry from the front it looks like a MR2 and from the rear its a squashed CRX....
Pete
Eh? The NSX is all about handling. On a race track maybe. It's hardly going to handle like an EVO now is it?
terribleturner
I love the look of the NSX, the Evo i feel just has a boring interior like the Scooby, but the 350 has something i just like but unfortunatly don't know enough about them. Have taken each one out for a test yet??
michael
On a race track maybe. It's hardly going to handle like an EVO now is it? No, it'll drive like a proper car rather than an electronically controlled fuglymobile
Bobbeh
I would only swap for an NSX, but thats only because it would cost more. None of those cars offer anything execptional over what the Supra already does.
Pete
None of those cars offer anything execptional over what the Supra already does. You would never keep up with an EVO/Scooby down a series of country roads (of which there's many here is Shropshire). I know it's a Supra club, but why is everyone so insistant the Supra is the best car for everything ever? I say again - it all depends what YOU want out of a car. Where you drive, how you drive, if it's pretty etc.
Bobbeh
From 50-70 you wont be able to lose the Supra. But with 4WD and extremely low/close ratio gearing its gonna be tough against the lighter cars. Put them on a track and its a different story, the NSX isnt as sprightly as it appears.. the Type-R version is the nuts, but thats 90k! J4CK50N
350z - Nice car, but pretty average. Doesnt really offer anything above what the Supra does, and pretty much lags behind in most sections Evo - Still got an Evo 5 and love it. Point to Point there is not much quicker, brakes are awesome and generally great fun to drive. Interior is nothing special, but is tidy enough, and as someone said, they are roomy. As for looks, its one of those cars you either love or hate - a bit like marmite. NSX - A bit of a special car in my eyes. Have always wanted one, although dont really know much about em. There was a thread on Scoobynet a while ago about em and basically everyone was singing their praises, both new and old. Will try and dig out a link for you. Supra - Well I have had mine for a while and I thouroughly enjoy it. It was a major change from what I had before, and I have not yet had chance to use it in decent weather. But so far it has kept me occupied, and has certainly been the car that gets the most looks, attention etc. But you know all about Supras so not much point in me going on!!! lol The only one i would not have is the 350z. Not saying that they are bad cars as they are not. It just does not float my boat!! If you were to get an Evo try and get an Evo VI TME - by far the bet model in my eyes! Cheers J4CK50N
Aerotop Dave
NSX - expensive, crap rear end looks, dated interior. + nice to look at, handling, Senna link (but only for petrol heads, Joe Public won't give a stuff) Evo - common, tinny, I can't tell the various versions apart but some are butt ugly + 4wd performance, bit of practicality with the four doors 350Z - plasticky interior, too soon for any reliability issues to have been spotted? (eg, Mk III Supra head gaskets) + nice to look at Supra - gloomy interior, thirst + performance, comfort level, looks
Bobbeh
Gloomy interior? Plasticy yes.. but its a great cockpit design and its not soooo gloomy with cream interior
Aerotop Dave
Yes that's true. The all-black J spec version is just that though - all black! Que someone saying 'the facelift version is grey actually...'
GeordieSteve
Anyone know what insurance is like on an NSX? Being 23 and having only 3 years NCB it might be a pain :S
Bobbeh
Probably no different from the Supra.
AJI
Its a group 20 so you'll be paying similar to any other group 20 car. But as already mentioned... buy a car that suits you for the purpose you want to use it for. If you want 4doors then an NSX is out of the question. If you want a rare car with RWD handling and supercar looks then an EVO is obviously not the right choice. If you want a good mix af all traits... stick with the Supra. stealth
NSX - Great looking car, like everyone says VERY reliable after all it is a Honda! Evo - This has to be an Evo 7, they are the meanist of all the Evo beasts they just look evil, they hadle like they are on rails the AYC is a god send and very quick! Oil services every 5K and only cost about 90-100quid 350Z - Look very plain unless you dress it with the Nismo kit, then they look great. Reliabilty.... it's a jap car, leave it standard and it wil out live the owner! Supra - Nice motors, my wife has one, had no problems, not blisteringly quick as it's a NA auto but it's gorgeous to just ponce around in as it's so effortless
