I'm sure there must be :D

Very excited, last year I decided to 'recreate' the only MTB I've ever had that I really liked/got on with. So I've been sourcing retro parts from circa 1994, finally got it to a rideable point this weekend.

The base bike is a 97 Killer V, I might have gone a little OTT with the components though...

Still missing a few parts - seatpost, blue magura boosters and cranks but otherwise I'm seriously pleased with it. Especially the wheels :D

Nice one!. that rocks!!.

Seeing that on the retro theme I'll think I'll dig my 93 Marin Muirwoods out from the depths of me garage (black frame with luminous yellow decals / rear tail).

I tricked it out a bit as well (Club Roost Downhill bars/seat, Oddesy Beartrap Pedals Shimano STX /XTR Gears,Chainset / Rockshox front forks/ Tioga tyres etc .

I'll try and take some piccys of it if poss?(to dig it out of garage that is lol!).

Hope you find the missing components your looking for.

Might be worth a look in mags like MBUK etc.. someone might have the bits your after.

Glad you are enjoying your bike then.

Where the hell did you find those in this day and age? i had those on my BMX

Rock on

I used to have a Specilized Rockhopper A1 which i spent about 2K on in about 95/96, which promptly got nicked when i went to uni :(

I now have a 99 Orange Airo

Old School bikes are the bestest :D

Spokey Dokeys - ebay :D haha

My original killer v got nicked too :( I'm always going to be on the lookout for the exact same frameset.

A few of my mates had Rockhoppers, they were/are cool!

Nice work! :)

I have a Raleigh 'something'... My brother in law gave me an old bike he had years back when I started mountain biking. I duley ripped it apart around the Devil Punchbowl and the frame actually broke one day(!) As it had a lifetime guarantee I got a brand new bike!

Still doesn't feel like my old one though... disc brakes and suspension just aren't right!? :D Mountain biking is too easy these days :p

Small pleasures can be got from things that are pretty cheap to maintain. I am orgasmic about my bike, a specialzied base model. I love the way it giggles and moves under me, and the sexy writing on the bits, and pieces I have no idea about.

I need to change the brake pads soon, as I use it so much, and brake pads these days don't seem to last that long - conspiracy?

All you need now is a playing card held in the spokes with a clothes peg, for that 'genuine' motorbike sound, and you'll be all set up! :D

The spokey dokeys don't MOVE and make a noise, that's not cool :p You leave them as they are in the pic - pushed up onto the nipples so they stay there

Looks good. Might be worth starting a riding club. I've just upgraded my mtb bike after having it stripped a couple of months ago and need some local knowledge to start riding again. I've heard there's some good tracks in this area.

I'm up for riding, there are a few meets arranged on that website but I get the impression they are all super fit, and I've not ridden for a long long time!

I Like it alot. Is this for a bit of fun or are you going to use it in anger ? I hope you have strong tricep muscles and wrists if you do :D

It's not a jump or DH bike if that's what you mean :D It's for fun/messing about on really, I suppose light XC type stuff. Just been out for about 6 miles, was a bit easy though although Stig isn't agreeing!!
