AndyT
No it doesn't. That's not right either but there isn't much that can be done about it. Have to see if there's some kind of commemoration on the day.
Mike
doesnt get quite the same press though does it? A very good point... I must admit I had completely forgotten about this one - it gets *no* press.
Kopite
doesnt get quite the same press though does it? Not nationally, does in Liverpool though. It wasn't English fans who died so the national papers (wrongly) aren't as bothered.. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/lfc_story/heysel/ The Hillsborough one is more prominent still as there was more controversy about it, this still goes on today (the Justice campaign etc) - there's probably people on here who were at Hillsborough; we had tickets sorted but couldn't get there (as kids) so it's a bit creepy as well, hopefully there won't be anyone on here trying to start arguments about the whole event, just let it pass without any aggro. That's not directed at JB or anyone so far by the way

MisterSheen
Taken from a beeb blog on Hillsborough: "A kid in my class at school (we were 7 at the time) lost his dad in the disaster, and couldn't watch Liverpool for a long time afterwards. He became a temporary Sheffield Wednesday fan in a kind of tribute to the place where his dad passed away, but soon returned to Anfield as the kind of supporter we all want to be; fanatical, passionate, appreciative of the beautiful game. The other was a family friend, who in a show of what was intended as loving generosity gave his ticket to his teenage nephew who'd never been to a game of that magnitude and who also, tragically, became one of the 96. The guy has still not forgiven himself and has since turned to God to try to explain the horror and guilt he must go through on a daily basis" I followed football up and down the country back in '89, and getting back home around 6pm , I sat in total silence for the rest of the evening watching TV - footballs equivalent of 9/11 My thoughts to all those who lost family & friends that very sad day! O, and Kelvin McKenzie - hang your head in shame!
Guest Rays the roof
Great tribute to the fans who died with a 4-0 victory and perfect minutes silence.... Not the best relationship between Mancunians who support Man U and Scousers, but the fans who died were people, so my respect goes out to all you lot on the wrong end of the M62! Ray (still want MUFC to retain our trophies!!)
SUPRASUZUKI
Sad memories of watching the events at Hilsborough. With the Bradford fire and general hooliganism, the 80's were a bad time for football.
