scooby_doo_do
Does anyone know what the little black Dome looking lump thing does inside the car just before you reach the windscreen ? (Sorry about the description!). Is it something to do with the standered alarm ? Or is it a gprs system for aliens because they all want supra's to fly around space in.. (Sorry for the last bit :-) ) Ta... Craig. MKIV TT 6.
Guest Martin F
It's a solar sensor for the A\C system.
Rob
Its a mini trackball for the in-car Atari system. All imports have them, doesn't yours?

as5606
What does the solar sensor do? and don't just say "senses the sun" like you were going to.....
Guest Martin F
It senses........................ On hot days when it is particularly sunny (so not in the UK then) it causes the A\C to increase output slightly to compensate for the heating effect from the sun. Hence the reason why it is at the front of the windscreen.

Piran
is this the sensor that also detects whether it's daylight ? since when it's dark if you pull on the door handles it the interior lights go on - as doe the lights around the door and ingition key holes ! Terminator
You can do some checks your self, I can email you the checking charts for codes, but I can't remember which two heater/air con buttons you press to get diagnostic at the moment, I am sure some one else will beat me to it. Most main dealers know very little aabout aircon specialist firm is the best way to go once you know what is wrong with it.

Correct. Strangely, the keyhole on the door does not illuminate on facelilt cars.
