no ignition on first startup after rebuild

well no sooner than the first problem is solved , another appears.

I need to fire up the engine for the first time, but I'm not getting any iginiton (I'm quite sure).

Theres a TOAD alarm in the car and I've disabled it as usual on the remote, and the engine does crank then (it wont when its enabled)

I've been advised to remove the battery over night and connect the poles simultaniously tomorrow to "kick start" the alarm, and will try that.

Wireing wise theres something that puzzels me. In the passenger footwell where the AEM box sits, there's a large yellow plug that I can't connect to any thing. The plug sits on the harness is about 30cm from the plugs that go into the ecu and it looks like this:

what is that for?

and does anyone have any ideas to a solution?

I think the yellow plug in question was originally plugged into the trac control ecu.

Have you checked to see if your getting a spark at the plugs?

not yet, but theres no fuel getting in eighter (pulled a plug and it was bone dry and non smelly) and it's my understanding that fuel will stay out as long as theres no spark

...right or wrong?

Doesn't sound right to me. First thing I'd check is to see if your getting fuel. Have you got a regulator with a fuel pressure gauge on the car?

Check one of the plugs near your ecu. It has a lever which locks it in place, just on the right wall of the footwell. This was my problem when I couldn't get it started. IIRC it's orange.

AAAAND we have a winner!

engine fired up nicely once that plug was pushed in correctly. Must be very sensitive as it only needed 1-2mm to be completely pushed in.

Funnily enough I did exactly the same thing, so was about to suggest it! I hand't clamped it in, there's a lever that does so.
