hi i have a supra with a charge speed wide body kit . i have got 12.5" wheels on the back with 295s on. at the moments they sit in the arch ok but i want 315 or 325 as the 295s i have got are a little to strech. the only problem is the wider tyres are rubbing the arch. i have cut away all of the arch lip i can but the 325s are still just catching. i was told i could have a few mm shimmed of the back of the wheel which will make them sit perfect.the only problem is the body shop that told me are well known for bodging cars so im not sure if this is a good idea. is this safe? if so does anyone know where i can get this done?

the wheels do fit the car. i am talking 2-3mm not inches. i would call that a pretty good fit compared to some wheels i have seen

If I'm reading this right, you are talking about taking material OFF the physical alloy, there is absolutely NO reason to ever do this.

I didn't say wheels that fit, I said the right wheels..

yes i understand that as i have fitted quite a few wide arch kits before. i have cut away as much as i can. it is no major problem i would just like to put the wider tyres on .

Your not following me mate, i don't mean the lip.... i mean the arch lol.

As Gav says, you shouldn't be going anywhere near your alloy.

Gav, is it april 1st yet?

I could cry I really could....

Thing is I was doing a cambelt today on a car and stuggling to get the one of the pulley bolts off, when I was advised by someone's old man to put the handbrake and put it into gear. Even after I informed him it was a front wheel drive he carried on to INSIST that the handbrake would help. Tolerance levels are low today...

yes i guessed that. the arch has lots of clearance. at least i know not to shimm the wheel down now like i have been wrongly informed is safe to do.i guessed that would not be a safe thing to do.
