jamesmark
You should be entitled to bereavement pay as this os classed as immediate family. I know with my work you are given 3-5 days bereavement pay then you have to take the rest if applicable out of your annual holiday. However as said it is still down to the employer what they give you.
Animal
It's down to the company, I'm afraid. When my granny died, I had to use a day's holiday to attend the funeral as grandparents were not classed as the immediate family.
Stan
As above, down to your employer and what they class as 'immeadiate' family. AFAIK grandparents aren't classed as that where I work
Whitesupraboy2
same here Grandparents for me were not classed as immediate family.
Scott
We are automatically entitled to 2hrs leave for the funeral. If its immediate family then that is increased to 1 full day. If you are the person organising the funeral then you are entitled to 1 full week All paid. This is down to the companies discression though. You would be better asking a manager, foreman, supervisor than us to be honest. Its not law though.
Supragal
yeah it's all been said, depends on your company. Here grandparents are immediate family. Also, if you aren't covered but you have a nice manager, look at compassionate leave as an alternative. Sorry to hear this.
ManwithSupra
When one of my close freinds died i was allowed to take the day off (paid) for his funeral. I think its just down to the companys policys etc.
