Advice needed, stem seals gone!

ok,

i have found that my stem seals are causing my blue start up smoke, the car otherwise does not smoke, not under boost or idle, its fine allday, only when the car has been left over night or few 5-6 hours when u start the car you get a large puff of blue smoke which clears very quickly.

what i really want to know guys is what happens after this?

i really dont have a grand lying around to sort this out, what are my options realistacaly?

if i leave it as it is and put up with it what will eventually happen?

serious coments guys please!

cheers

amz

mine does this too a bit; what oil you using? it might be worth using thicker oil.

I use 5-50 synth power and Im sure that doesnt help when warmer weather comes round.

Now I know (or suspect) mine has done this for 20000 miles cos I found an old thread on here from the previous owner. ;) in which he asks about small amount of blue at start up. Mine havent got any worse in all those miles. Next oil change Im going to go thicker. Incidentally mine does it one day then not the next 3 totally random. My car uses NO OIL whatsover and Ive never had to put one drop in between changes. I just put it down to age of the car which is what tit is :eyebrows:

sorry Dude not trying to put anyone off using your excellent service offer.

Guest badkarma
well, what are the long term effects of this? i am not loosing noticeable amount of oil, the car does not smoke otherwise.

Should i solve this problem now? is it that bad?

I left mine for 3years. If it's your valvestem seals it's mainly the embarassment of blue smoke hanging in the air while people try and chase you down to tell you something's wrong with your car. I waited cuz I eventually went Single, figured I would do it all at once, head gasket, water pump, etc.

... My car uses NO OIL whatsover and Ive never had to put one drop in between changes. ..

Just a quick note here, the two statements above are not necessarily linked.

Just because the oil level appears to stay put, it doesn't mean that you're not burning oil.

Maybe you are, especially if the car is kept outdoors overnight and/or has above average piston blowby, there is a lot of water, fuel and other crap mixing in the oil increasing its volume. Some of them evaporate during a good warmup, others do not.

So you're left with the impression that your old engine burns no oil at all, when in reality it is a filthy oily mixture in your sump that you're checking with the dipstick.

(not supra-specific of course)

My oil aint dirty, my plugs aint dirty and my car runs fine  ; if the seals wher very shot it wud burn oil and possibly need topping up.

didn't mean to offend you mate  (I, too like my plugs clean, unlike my women :read: )

but in any case, don't always expect to see a siginificant change in oil level in the sump.

I've had to come back from the Pod (all the way to Kent) with oil clouds like the batmobile (it feels embarassing, but you get used to it, and then try and see how far you can go annoying fancy convertibles heh...)

Went back home and checked the oil level, expecting it to be way low --- in fact it was exactly where it was last time.

Twilight zone?
