Guest Supra Adam
Well i have been doing some more insurance quotes this morning on a TT supra, baring in mind im 21 with no NCB and a pretty high risk postcode. On an import GZ/RZ model i am getting £1900 fully comp, which in my opinion is amazing, considering the M3 was going to be £3500 lol Also the UK spec model is coming in at £1100 How can it be so cheap? is it considered classic or anything like that. I have triple checked all the details so there are no mistakes. Just sharing my joy anyway.

But many variables, is your price for an import TT, any NCB, high risk postcode etc? If its all same as me then fair enough my quote is expensive but to me from quotes i have had etc its a great price
tbourner
Yeah true, mine was an import TT6, but I had 2 years NCB and my postcode is one of the middle types. This was a few years ago now as well, so insurance has probably gone up quite a bit since then.

The Raven
Uk specs are cheap as chips to insure. If i recall mine was £350 ish fully comp with bell with the mrs (under 25) as a named driver. 29 3 years no claims. Currently i pay more for my aero top on a 3rd party basis. Work that one out

Work that one out It's because the insurance companies are scared of potentially needing to ship parts from Japan if an import owner is involved in a crash. For them, it's a much bigger unknown than getting parts for a UK-retailed car, which by definition you can get parts for in the UK.
bigbloodyturbo
My insurance with elephant was only £100 more for the import over the UK spec, they were more worried about modifications than whether it was an import or not. 24yo with 1 year ncb and a clean license was £588 IIRC, i'm hoping it'll be cheaper now i'm 25 with 2 years ncb but I cant really complain if it isn't as that's already quite good imo.
