2 Questions - High Idle + Power Steering Pump leak

Had Emin round at the weekend, who did a brilliant job on my dash; during the day he also fitted a Walbro...however the car now idles at around 1200 rpm. This may seem like a really stupid question, but is reducing the idle simply an adjustment of the throttle stop screw?

Secondly we noticed a leak coming from the Power Steering pump - seems to be coming from the top pipe connector, not the pipe iteslf - is there a gasket here - looks like there's a small plate (held with a bolt) where this connector then goes into the main body of the pump....or do I need a new one? If so where's the best place to get one and how much are they??

Cheers

Don't adjust the throttle stop screw, you'll be masking the underlying problem rather than fixing it. Sounds like an airleak/hose off somewhere. Interestingly it might be around the power steering area as there is a bypass valve to raise the idle when you turn the wheel while stationary - stops it from stalling. If that hose comes off or the valve is buggered your idle will go up. Easy check - pull the hose from the PAS pump to the intake manifold while the engine is running - if the idle goes up, it's probably not the leak.

Has the car been driven a couple times since the Walbro was fitted?

When fitting the pump Emin would have disconnected the battery and this will have reset the ECU. You can sometimes get high idling for a while after an ECU reset.

Why do you want to raise the idle?! Is there a problem?

since fitting my vpc ive been running a bit rich and supraforums reckon raising the idle will help quite a bit with my stalling problem. my car idles around 500rpm which i believe is a bit low anyway. i'll clean the IACV whilst im fitting the single and see if that helps any.

Yes, move it from the manifold, too the intake pipe of th TB, lik you say its getting heat soaked there, got a AFR gauge? whats the AFR?

What chip are you running? and what injectors? each go hand in hand.

im running an 'a' chip at the moment with the stock 550's but will be upgrading to 820's and 'b' chip with the single. afr gauge is also going in at the same time. the chip was brand new from hks. i dont think the problem was anything to do with heat soak though due to the fact it happens mainly when cold and seems to get better as the car warms up, but imo still runs rich. maybe the new chip will sort things out. i'll let you know when im done
