Stratty
My J-spec NA is going for its first service next week and I have asked they guy to change the cam belt as well as it appears it was last done 5 years ago. Can you tell me if all the cam belts are the same between the different models of car? The guy at the garage said they only had TT ones and that it should be the same but I just wanted to check. I didnt know if there would be a difference between a J-spec and Uk spec also. many thanks.
supra_si
Make sure they have the required " special tool" to lock the cams to do the cam belt
Luka-P
They will be the same for both TT and NA applications. I'd go with a genuine Toyota one. It might be worth your while checking the crank pulley while its out and getting a new pulley bolt.
Luka-P
Make sure they have the required " special tool" to lock the cams to do the cam belt They don't really have to be locked. There are notches in the pulleys and on the casings. Not moving the crankshaft would be more important.

Sounds as though he has it in hand then. Thanks
supra_si
that special tool will be costing him best part of 90 quid + vat, he must be a nice man to do that for you
