Chris Wilson
Lola wheel nuts. 450 lbs foot. looking for something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280326090882 Thanks for the link gaz1, a bit too small unfortunately
Al Massey
Why dont you get a torque converter/multiplier? We used to use large torque wrenches on our tanks, upto 750nm and they were as tall as me But now we have smaller ones with a torque convertor/multiplier to save space. we still have the big ones, they are just kept in a store now
Chris Wilson
The problem with a converter is you need to lock the arm against something solid, usually the ground, but the car is very light, so instead of locking up the moment lifts the car off the deck
TrickTT
Ask you friendly neighbourhood HGV mechanic. We've got one at work, 1" drive and 1000lb/ft, for truck wheelnuts, but unfortunatly its in constant use and not the sort of thing I could just "borrow" for a few days. Luka-P
Our HGV mechanic has one too Chris, might be worth looking in that area.
dangerous brain
We get discounts on stuff like that where I work. I can also ask our tool guy thats my best mate if he can get stuff cheaper as you are talking big money for a torque wrench that size.
Guest Budz86
Try a local tractor merchant Chris, you will find one in there. Failing that, break out the welder
dangerous brain
Blokes at work reckon theres a second hand tool dealer not too far away from where I work that deals in ex military stuff from the likes of larkhill and the tank regiments. They are bound to have second hand stuff in that size. What are you thinking of anyways? A double break back or a smaller one with a decent multiplier? Chris Wilson
Sorted now, I fell asleep when a Snap On was was going through on Ebay after midnight last night (quite WHY people have a closing type in the early UK hours I don't know, maybe he didn't allow for BST, but 11.30 PM would still have been quite late for many potential buyers), but managed to blag a company down to 200 quid cash for a new Britool HVT7200 which is fair for a new wrench I think? Thanks for the input.
