dangerous brain
As the title suggests. My AEM may be dead I'm not sure. If it is buggered I will certainly not be looking at buying another one to replace it as they are so expensive an item to buy a second one of. What would be the cheapest workable option piggy back with a stock ECU I guess?
Homer
What size and make of injectors do you have and do you know their lag? Whats turbo and spec does the engine have? Which gearbox? Dependant on the answers to above questions should be able to seperate standalone vs piggyback options.
dangerous brain
Its my do luck motor. Auto box I think is the same as the supra tt, turbo is a t67 dbb, injectors unknown (they are the vvti ones but remanufactered with bigger injector holes in them, touted as 650 cc when I bought the car), hks 256/264 cams in according to the blurb http://www18.ocn.ne.jp/~mamiana/toyota-aristovmodified-duluck-photos.html

Ian C
I have a T67DBB with 256in 264ex cams and 720's - fit an EMU and buy my map off me
caseys
If you're scrapping the AEM can I have a look at it?
dangerous brain
Could you look at it before I scrap it if you know how to fix it lol. EMU huh thats a piggy back unit right?
Ryan.G
If you have an Auto the only decent option at the moment for management IMO is a EMU but dont go above 720cc injectors. I would take Ian up on his offer
dangerous brain
so how much is an emu?
dini_the_owl
brian, whats wrong with your aem? if its a hardware fault i may be able to help, would be a pleasure as you helped me out with the fcon harness some time ago. andy
dangerous brain
Um I'm guessing smoke coming out of it is a bad thing lol. If I knew what the switch positions were I'd put that fcon back in just to get the car running (that is after I find whats shorting the damn ecu out)
dini_the_owl
Brian fcon dip switches, switch 1 + 2 are for injector maps and switch 3+4 are ignition maps, you can switch through different combinationsof sub overlay maps using the switches but to be safe you should only have to alter 1+2 (leave 3+4 to off position)and if you have a wideband you can monitor afr through that, Dont worry about switches 5-8 as these are for feedback you can leave those off. normally on the sub overlay maps its just (1 on)+5% (2 on) +10% (3 on) -5% (4 on) -10% fuel depending what dip switch selection is. you can send me the ecu if you like and ill do my best but just depends what has gone inside? but like you say its best sorting wiring out first. andy
dangerous brain
Ah OK chap. I take it that the reason my car won't start anymore with the stock ecu and the fcon in is down to the dli i have fitted for the aem?
