dwayne
this happens to me when the engine isnt completely warmed up. it happened on a calibra i had too and the idle control valve was at fault there aswell. now, i am NOT suggesting doing this as i dont know the pro's and cons of it but to fix the calibra i drilled a 2mm hole in the butterfly and it never stalled again and ticked over fine. i did it on the calibra because it was cheap to get a new part if it all went wrong but if there's no harm in it surely its got to be worth doing? anyone got any reason why that would be a bad idea? Ian C
anyone got any reason why that would be a bad idea? Yes - you're masking the symptoms rather than fixing the cause. And if you ever fix the cause by design or accident you've shafted a perfectly good component. We call this a "bodge" Sounds like either a bunged up ICV as already said or overfuelling for some reason. A friendly MOT place can check the fuelling, if it's idling anywhere significantly richer than 14 to 15:1 then that's your prob. -Ian
dwayne
very good point, mine must be fuelling issues then cos i cleaned the ICV a few times now and it only works for a day or 2 then its back to square 1 cheers!
j1mb0b1
Thanks for your advise guys but i think i have found the problem i did a fault code check today and its coming up speed sensor fault code 42 !!.. And i also know why, !!! I dont have my speedo cluster installed atm as i'am waiting for one i have a wanted thread out atm, I did not think that having no speedo cluster installed that it would make the car cut out and bring up a fault, i have looked at a few old threads and people with the same fault code have had the problems with it cutting out.. Can anyone confirm that this is the reason of my cutting out problem ? Thanks !!! And yes i know i should not be driving around without speedo cluster installed but i dont have any other car to drive atm ... Link to my wanted thread !! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=180819 Edited March 26, 2009 by j1mb0b1 (see edit history)
