wilkorangerover
iam just about to buy one of these 2 afr gauges, i have taken a picture of my downpipe, i was wondering the best way to install the afr gauge sensor?? Also i was wondering why the oxygen sensor is still in use?? can i use the hole where the oxygen sensor goes, guessing not http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AEM-UEGO-Lambda-Wideband-AFR-Gauge-w-Bosch-Sensor_W0QQitemZ330313914577QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item330313914577&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Prosport-Wideband-AFR-Air-Fuel-Ratio-Gauge-Kit-Sensor_W0QQitemZ370175699028QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item370175699028&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
Tricky-Ricky
First whats your setup? you will still need the std sensor unless your going to use the sim narrowband output from the wideband, but in any case they use different fittings. I would be inclined to mount the wideband sensor further back in the exhaust, about 24" or so, although some seem to work quite happily closer to a single turbo. So you will need to weld on the fitting boss.

Tricky-Ricky
my set up is HKS To4r single with hks f-con gold sard injectors Yes the F-con will be running off the std one for closed loop, its up to you where you weld the adaptor, as i said some run the wideband quite close to the turbo, i prefer to have mine a bit further back. wilkorangerover
whats the best location then for the afr???
Tricky-Ricky
There isn't an ideal as such, it can go anywhere from 4" behind the turbo to the end of the decat pipe, but as i said i prefer to have mine further back to avoid any possible overheat errors. colsoop
I haven't got the instructions but AEM specify a distance for their sensor, it certainly isn't in the downpipe its quite a bit further back. Have a search for "AEM UEGO wideband installation guide" this is a handy guide for the job.

Have a search for "AEM UEGO wideband installation guide" this is a handy guide for the job. I ran mine in the downpipe about 6" back from the turbo and had no problems even on numerous top speed runs at 2.5 bar:search:
Tricky-Ricky
I ran mine in the downpipe about 6" back from the turbo and had no problems even on numerous top speed runs at 2.5 bar:search: I have an Innovate setup, but it runs the same Bosch sensor, its strange, when i ran this on my old S14 i had it in the decat pipe, yet i still got overheat errors, so i added a heat sink. Yet the Supra seems to be OK with it fitted quite close to the turbo, mind you i still have mine in the second decat, must get around to trying it in the down pipe. wilkorangerover
i could do with getting mine further back the better , because taking my downpipe of will be a right job because the wastegate/turbo dump pipe is welded into the downpipe and not bolted in it
wile e coyote
Im thinking of putting mine in second decat and putting wire up through tunnel near gear stick as im sure there was a cat sensor there
wilkorangerover
mine will be going in the down pipe just before the second decat so i can leave the exhaust/pipes on whilst doing the job
Kev.O
Wouldn't it be easier to put it in the second decat pipoe, that was you can remove it and take it to a welder?
mr lover
Im thinking of putting mine in second decat and putting wire up through tunnel near gear stick as im sure there was a cat sensor there thats where mine is, I am sure AEM instructions stated 24 inches from the turbo.
