Corvettes becoming more affordable

Ive driven a both the shelby mustang and the yellow corvettes with a black stripe from hertz (no idea which model it is) while i was in florida.

I didnt rate the mustang at all. I looked mean as hell, but performance wise it was a bit lacking. The interior was crap. it did make a nice noise though. But i wouldnt have one over my supe.

The corvette on the over hand was stunning. I drove it for 6 hours from orlando to key west and back (12 hours total) without any trouble. It was a nice place to sit, was comfortable and the acceleration was stunning. Very different to the supra but very similar in terms of driving position etc.

The corvette is a stunning car and i would have one any day.

A couple of pictures to bring back memories :p

Ah the memories :D

The Hertz corevtte is a special edition designed for Hertz, 423 hp.

i enjoyed driving mine for 10 days and 2000 miles while in the us.

It handled really well (as good as the Supra). Putting it through its paces on some twisty mountain roads around yosemite and along highway 1 was fantastic fun especially with the roof off listening to the v8 burble  .It accelerated quickly slightly quicker than the supra from a standtstill but slowed a bit around 130 It has really good brakes and stopped better than the supra.

Seeing as we are sharing photos, a couple of shots i took:

:D I found the way it tried to snap my neck when i hoofed it out of the tolls quite pleasing :) I think i only covered 800 miles total. I was surprised how comfortable it was to drive for such long periods. The supra is good but after a couple of hours i have to get out and take a brake. usualy arround the time the tank is empty though :p

Also the mpg impressed me lol i was getting 23

And if that's what the trip computer said, that'll be to a US gallon, so you were really getting about 27.6 miles to an imperial gallon. I average around that on the motorway at about 85mph. 30mpg is possible if you stick to the speed limit.

I believe the fuel tank is 68.8 litres, so not that huge.

The Hertz car really only has some extra detailing on it - the stripe, badges and wheels. Maybe some interior bits and pieces too. The engine is the normal LS3, 6.2 litre lump. The bhp figure should be 430 with 424lb ft of torque. It puts out slightly more if you go for the optional exhaust with the valves in it to let it breathe better on WOT. (And sound better too! )

I believe it is 436 hp.

The extra 6bhp is what I was referring to when I said "It puts out slightly more if you go for the optional exhaust with the valves in it"

Fortunately, Hertz ticked this option when they placed their order.

Ayway, the fastest car in the world is always a rental! :innocent:
