Every single on-track session can be watched on the red button or online.

On race day, viewers will be able to choose from three different video streams.

F1 fans will be able to customise their viewing experience through the BBC's multi-platform offering with options such as: split-screen action; a live leaderboard; in-car cameras; choice of commentary; live online streaming; live text; interactive forums; circuit guides; and blogs.

So it is turning into a Scalectrix style video game, then! It won't be long before viewers can pay to remotely drive the cars too; much like the 'crew' does now ;)

thats already in development and I kid you not. :D

A game is being developed where you race with the real guys when the race is on. God knows how they will work out collisions and if you are in their spot at the time etc...

There was a news story on it a while back.

That's fantastic...:)

I'm looking even more forward to the F1 season ahead now...:D

Shame though about the rule changes...:(

Whilst the red button technology will no doubt appeal to many, I don't think I can be bothered to start pushing buttons during the race itself. I'll allow the producers and commentators to guide me through the afternoon :)

What if you want to record any of the action other than qualifying and the race, will you have to press the red button youself?

Slightly inconvient especially in Australia when the Friday practice will start in the early hours of the morning.

Shame it's not going to be in HD this year though.

First thing I thought when Bernie announced the BBC deal was that he may have sold all his HD broadcast kit to BBC. Alas not. I cannot believe it's not in HD and I would've thought it'd have been a caveat for the deal.

Yeah, me too. I think it will be next season but it's a bit of a missed opportunity. You can even watch the world touring cars and WRC in HD on Eurosport HD. F1 has always been way behind when it comes to media. It only just went widescreen a little while ago!

I remember hearing about something like that YEARS ago!

Too right! Not that I have a HD TV yet, but I'm planning on buying one with my redundancy payout :D
