tony tt
Hi folks today i put my 1st de-cat in and 1.2bar restrictor ring it already had the 2nd de-cat in place. Now i disconnected the battery and removed the efi 30amp fuses connected it up took it a drive and its only making 0.9bar with both tubs online. I have a blitz ebc and its telling me 1.1bar but it feels slower now the cat has been removed. I could use the ebc with cat in and have had it at 0.9bar a few times and thats how the car feels now i dont understand it at all. I have new ngk plugs from paul whiffin of his choice for bpu. i have a greddy fcd and a walbero fuel pump afr gauge and boost gauge. Im totally stumped i thought i had all bases covered !! any help will be greatly appreciated thanks.
Homer
You have two possible issues: 1) Less power. Was the restrictor ring fitted before you removed the 1st cat? Who fitted the 1st cat and are you sure there are no leaks? 2) Your gauges should not display different readings, one of them either has a leak or is not fitted correctly. Were they reading the same before the 1st decat was removed?

The local garage done it mate. The boost gauge was up at 1bar and the ebc was reading 1.1bar its just a dts gauge i didnt expect it to be accurate its only cheap. The car feels slow compared to before with the cat in.
Homer
What boost was the car making prior to the 1st decat being fitted? I'm thinking the restrictor ring might need to be drilled out a little bit. Did you also take it for 4-5 miles of driving before trying it out on an A road at WOT? The ECU always seems to take a while to sort itself out after being reset. It was making over 1bar at 1.2 bar it was giving fuel cut so i dropped it to 1.1 and it was fine. its a 1.2bar restrictor ring and there isnt much of a lip on it to be honest only a few mm drilling it a bit would nearly be the same diametre of the de-cat. i drove it for 12miles down a stretch of duel carriageway at about 80 till i got home it wasnt till later i took it out for a play and found this. Homer
Okay, first steps first, turn off the boost controller and forget about it. You need to get the car to run it's lowest level of required boost without BC assistance, lets say 1.0 bar. Do that, see what boost level you get (on a reliable gauge) and work from there. Once you have found and acheived that you need to setup the BC to raise the gain and peak values to your high boost value say 1.2bar. SimonT
Just a little hi-jack here:rolleyes: Just wondered if anyone could help!! ive fitted just my 2nd decat and the 1st is still in however im hitting fuel cut which i was told i probably wouldnt however i am so my issue is what FCD to get as im told Thor is the best and HKS i should steer clear of but how hard are the Thors' to fit and can i only get them from Thor themselves or do traders on here sell them???? Thanks
tDR
Go with the GReddy (BCC for boost cut controller it's called rather than FCD). The Thor units were extremely problematic for me. Do a search against my username for the full details. Cheers, Brian.
