VIL
Hi Guys, can anyone help. I am in the process of moving offices and looking to now upgrade our phone system. I am basically looking to get an incomming sales line with the ability to have 6 outbound phone lines. I have contacted BT, NTL, and few others but they all seem to be coming in at high prices for something quite simple. I dont need anything fancy eg PBX systems etc just the ability to have cheap outbound calls for 6 of my sales staff. Does anyone have any experience with this or can advise me of an economical solution?
JustGav
A VOIP setup perhaps? All depends, do you want it on past budgets or today's show string version. A small PC running something such as asterix, with a few ebay cisco IP phones would be a cheap solution. Pair it up with a VOIP provider and it would function exactly the same. Would also give you the ability to answer/make calls from pretty much anywhere with an IP connection. Think skype, just done properly with the OFFICIAL standards and not their bodged solution (I hate skype )

JustGav
Voip ftw It makes sense EVERYTIME I'm waiting for my landline contract to expire and I'm moving over 100% to VOIP.
VIL
Gav, thanks for this. I was thinking along these lines but started to get confused over the VOIP provision. If I had the kit eg the IP/SIP phones and Asterix, PBX or something similar do I just need to go to a VOIP provider, port our numbers and thats it? Do you have any recommendations on VOIP providers? caseys
VOIP I agree. Low cost, easy to fix and low maintenance if setup correctly. Just make sure you have enough bandwidth, or seperate bandwidth for VOIP than your main internet connection, as if they ever contend you start sounding like an asthmatic darlek. JustGav
I'll put my IT hat on and do some research and give you some rough figures for a 6 phone setup....(Just need to go wash my hands and take my repairing-someones-truck hat off )
