mkiii 2JZ-GE conversion

Hi,

I currently have a mkiii 2.0l twin turbo (1G-GTE) which I use for drifting (fully stripped out, welded diff etc). I am looking at doing a 2JZ N/A conversion as the 2J has more torque than my 1G and I have a couple of questions:

My 1G has a W58. Will I need to get a new bell housing for it to fit the 2J or should it bolt straight on?

I have a spare clutch for the 1G. If i use the 2J flywheel will this fit or will I need a new clutch (if so, which one?)

Long shot I know but does anyone know if the propshafts are the same length?

Will I need to replace the whole loom or can the 2J ECU work with my existing loom?

I doubt anyone has done this conversion before as 1G's are rare as rockin horse **** in this country but you never know...

Thanks

Just a thought, are the prop shafts the same length on all mkiv's as there are a couple of ppl with 2JZ-GTE conversions into mkiii's

What's oil climb? I'm assuming it's starvation and hence ppl get dry sumps etc?

Tom i'm already running 1bar (shimmed both wastegates) but that doesn't help torque below 4k. The 1G bogs down quite bad with lower revs. Ive got an FCon waiting to be set up but for the same cash as a day on a rolling road I could have a 2JZ-NA which will last longer (or so I assumed).

Yeah I wish I had the cash for a 1J or 1U, or ideally a 2J-gte but I don't :( And I have the opportunity to buy a 2j-ge pretty cheap so just trying to figure out if it's gonna be worth the hassle. The 1G is a bit gutless for drifting in such a heavy car.

MKIII is right is saying the 1G is gutless below 4k, but as you say drifiting is in the higher rev range most of the time I would think :)

how much weight have you stripped from it? :)

It would be difficult for me to remove my 1G and put in a 2JZ without a turbo purely on noise :D

If the car is purely for drifting then put it on a strict Diet, i know the 1G is gutless but shedding some weight would be a start.

My mk3 has nothing inside cept 2 lightweight seats ;)

if your on a budget then grab a complete 7mgte+r154, pisseasy conversion and more torque than the 1jz.

It's been on ma-hoo-sive diet already

Air con's gone, only thing left to take out is the dash and roof lining!

It does drift quite well but there are times when i need stay in 2nd and it just doesn't have the guts to keep the wheels spinning. I'm only using 215's at about 35-40psi.

I've got some video but just need to edit it as it's quite long. I'll post it once ive finished MovieMaker-ing it!

I'm possibly getting the 2J off a mate who's swapping a 2J turbo into his mkiv so the price is gonna be pretty good (i.e cheaper than a R154 let alone a decent 7M with a metal HG/ARP's). I just don't want to go ahead with the 2J swap because it's cheap and then regret it.
