patrikbrunt
normal spray paint will be fine mate. I sprayed a metal spark plug cover on my old vaux with normal paint and it was fine, no problems with heat etc.
pedrosixfour
To spray paint plastic and get it to stick you need plastic primer. U-POL 20:03 is the name of the stuff I've used in the past, don't know if its available in an aerosol tho.

Scott
I didn't bother with plastic primer, its over rated lol. I sprayed mine with the chrome paint off of ebay. I just gave it a quick rub and a clean then sprayed. I have a can of plastic primer but i really didn't like it. I used it the first time i refurbed a set of headlights, didn't bother the 2nd time. If you want gloss black, it might be better to use matt then lacquer? The reason i say that is matt is MUCH easier to spray from a can than gloss is. The lacquer does all the glossing for you. Just give it a rub down with a some high grit paper (i use 2000 but that might be overkill) after you have sprayed it matt, to flatten the paint, then lacquer! Paul372
so they dont do spray paint for plastic just use the normal stuff, what about the heat from the engine will the paint still be ok from that
Scott
Should be fine for the spark plug cover, i've never known anyone to use any special paints for that area. If you want to be extra safe you could buy VHT paint and VHT lacquer but i think that might be overkill. Saying that, if it costs the same you might as well. Soaruss
As has been said normal spray paint is fine for ANY plastic under the bonnet, heat wont effect it. If doing such as cam covers or any other engine bit, Plastikote spray paint is fine, its a higher temp paint, also from Halfords and the like. This was my MR2 engine done in Plastikote
