trinitom
I knew we wouldn't just end up with one thread about this, at least I tried... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=180148 didn't noticed the other thread, my bad! but it's a shame the prices we pay, when in Venezuela for example 1l of water is more expensive than 1l of fuel! tbourner
They still use the main excuse for hiking up prices is that it persuades people to stop using cars. Which planet do they really live on? Planet London where it can be more cost effective to use the extensive public transport alternative instead of a car / parking / congestion charge combo... unlike most other locations in the UK. The new roads man in Portsmouth is apparently commited to sorting out traffic congestion in the town............ by adding more traffic lights and removing parking in place of cycle lanes. RiceRocket
Morrisons are withholding the increase until Sunday 6th for those with 'normal' cars who live near a store.

AJI
pity we dont have the french attitude by now they would have blocked ports- m/ways- citys until the government backed down The UK government have classed that type of activity as terroism these days. Its a no-win situation for the public they have created.
benkei
The UK government have classed that type of activity as terroism these days. Its a no-win situation for the public they have created. They can't arrest EVERYBODY. Imagine if the whole nation got together and stated a protest, something would have to change then. I wonder if the police who have to arrest these protestors are actually wondering WHY they are fighting a movement they agree with? To blindy follow orders leading to the country's demise... So in effect its like a civil war situation whereby the public versus the police and military. How would you get the mass public to enter into such a situation? The government know that the british public don't do anything and are generally a 'walk over'. The press/media is the influence that needs to be changed as they seem to carry 'public opinion' and the british public blindly follow what is written and mentioned in the news. The press/media is also the biggest threat to any government, but as with the internet in the UK it is still censored and under a level of 'control'. The problem we have is that the UK does not have any party that can offer an alternative...and any party that attempts to create change is battered by the media and other government controlled influences so that they are discretided and nobody votes for them. If its not about their alternative policies then it goes on to the personal level....I'm sure everybody has seen examples of this in the various newspapers etc. It is a sad state of affairs that rule 'great' britain these days. We need a revolution if we're to see any major changes. The world has been run like this for so long it's become the norm. and I hate that the Government blatantly takes the piss while we sit here and take it, like the 'good old English folk' that we are... The media is heavily controlled by the Government, telling us what they want us to know/think, and keeping our attention away from things they don't want us to know. The internet is it's worst enemy, as it's information from 'person to person', not 'corporation to people', but there is, and always will be,a lot of mis-information out there, which is why the Government can just deny it all. It's a huge debate to get into really. I have a plan... Let's take some gun powder to number 10 and blow it up!
