Insurance! Its a funny ol' game.

I've been looking at quotes for a approx 10K Supra TT giving as much info as possible even going so far as to declare basic mods and, y'know what, I'm bloody amazed.

Lowest so far is £640 with Elephant, fully comp and 250 excess, 1 year ncb (due to living in a city previously and not needing to drive)

Compare that to my 12 year old Volvo valued at £450 on third party F+T which is £425.

So a car worth more than 20 times what I have now and capable of speeds I couldn't reach even if I drove out the back of a cargo plane and they only want a couple of hundred extra! I don't understand. I'm not complaining but I don't understand.

Will give Sky a ring this week to get some rough ideas. I am suddenly enjoying being 34 and sensible. :)

J spec or UK? Make sure they are quoting a MKIV not the MKIII, it has happened before, plus you have not said you age, which is a big thing in insurance.

It was a UK, was a mkIV and I'm 34. I phoned to check about JDM car and the guy said they would try their utmost to stay close to the UK price! Of course, should that actually happen I'd rush out and put money on Elvis turning up in a UFO but who knows.

I'm really just waiting until I can get onto Sky and see what they can do.

In case anyone is still interested I have just had a rough quote from SKY for a JDM 93-94 TT, no mods, fully comp. blah blah blah

£951. Mostly due to me only having one years NCB.

A bit gutting but not as bad as it could be. Will get car then haggle!

Oh...and they also said that the value of the car makes no difference to the premium so whether I buy an 8K car or a 12K car I'll pay the same. Why do they ask for the value if it makes no difference?
