Green Peace
Very sad...although he represented values that not many of us agree with he was an outstanding man of great courage and great intelligence. I come from a Catholic upbringing and went to see him at Pontcanna Fields Cardiff as a child where he was driven around in an Ice cream van He outlived both my parents and my dog...but sad as its kind of an end of an era! Wonder Who will become Pope now....knowing these times there will prob be a programme called 'Pope Idol' where you have to text in.... God bless him. Rob
The first pope to visit Britain! Why was that? I thought, then I remembered the whole Dissolution business. Kinda put a damper on the whole relationship.

Pathetic saying something like that, not in good taste! Of course your just joking, but is that all you can say? There's always at least one person! There's always at least one person! Lots of people died yesterday, lots of people will die today - some in far more horrific ways than old John, he was 84, he had a fairly decent life compared to most and eventually died of old age when parts of him stopped working, why is it such a tragedy? The sadest part of the whole thing in my opinion is the media circus that ensured he couldn't just die gracefully and peacefully.

That's right, but not many have done as much as him in promoting peace and goodwill etc. No tragedy at all, nice to show a bit of respect though just like you would with anyone that has just died. Typical of the news nowadays , saves them the effort in looking for other stories.

terribleturner
Very sad ,even though it was expected for quite a while now. Not very nice watching him deteriorate over the past few years. All the top news crews have been stationed over in the square for the past 5 years waiting for the day. Not as bad as the queen mother for which they were waiting 8 years for though.
