nige
A fellow supra owner rewired my fuel pump the wires are in the rear quarter on the left side of the boot basically what it does is run the pump at 12v at all times instead of 9v and I think i'am correct in saying 12v when revs are higher, the pump is a walbro upgrade bought from whiffbits as the car is BPU,recently the pump buzzes quite loudly could this indicate its about to fail and doing this rewiring mod is it a bad thing?Any advice most appreciated guys, cheers, Nige. paul mac
do a search on this mate, it was urban myth a few years back that the 12 volt mod was a good thing, it has been pretty much prooved its a waste of time and can be potentially dangerous
nige
Thanks for that,I done a search and think I will be reverting back to the way it is supposed to be,sounds dangerous, cheers.
Homer
Good decision They work absolutely fine with the stock setup, even with a single.
Bossco
I think the buzzing sound is quite common. You can hear mine on tick over and all seems to be well.
nige
Just spoke to my mate and his reasoning is that BPU spec if your running higher boost theres a potential lean spot when the pump changes from 9v to 12v can this cause damage? Homer
As Paul has said, it's completely unnecessary. Using the stock setup is very, very tried and tested, it works absolutely fine.

Chris Wilson
All you are doing is heating the fuel up and wasting fuel pump life.
