Stu_Fraser
Finally got around to measuring the circumference at 22.25 inches, so I work that out to be a 7 inch diameter cylinder. I have ordered the boot. These things take time, you know Thanks Stuart!! No problem Chris, I'm pleased to have been some help.
edge
Been diving about 9 months myself - started by doing my PADI Open Water in Cyprus then joined my local dive club in Scotland since and started diving lochs mostly, that necessitated dry suit spec then did my Advanced OW followed by Nitrox spec and Deep spec. Have been to 40m a few times, would like to go deeper but realise it's into tech diving and expensive gas mixes. Will do Wreck and Drift specs next as well as Rescue Diver cert and settle for 'Master Scuba Diver' cert from that lot for now - would like to head down the Divemaster route but don't have the time to devote to it. Invested in all my own kit including a couple of 12L Cylinders but would like to add a pony bottle for the deeper stuff as you start to realise your mortality! Have a Shark Dive coming up soon at Deep Sea World in Fife - should be interesting! Cheers, Brian. I'm fairly new myself and all of my diving was in the uk until recently, just got back from the dominican republic and got the chance to dive both the atlantic side and caribbean side. Lots of wreck dives and nice walls and reefs. The wreck stuff was a real tester as the surge was unreal. Didn't really fancy doing the divemaster route as i'm quite selfish and plan on doing some deep wrecks and some caves in warmer climates. I'm now going down the tec route and hope to have completed my tec 65/trimix (75m training/7tanks) by this time next year as we are planning a 60m wreck dive off the southcoast but getting application ready for permissions to dive it. Another supra member leelbuk who came out to the dominican with us done his O/W course aswel. Definitely be time for a supra club dive soon. edge
It's been a while since i last posted but i thought i would give a bit of an update. I'm following my dream and becoming ever closer to reaching my goals. It has been hard work, lots of studying, exams in and out of the water but bit by bit i can see the end. The New year will bring 9 courses that i hope to complete by december 2012 but will not be worried if i have to roll some into 2013, i just hope my job will be stable enough as i have already spent many ££££'s on kit and courses. I completed my basic open water in march 2011 which is the basics and the first course many take to get into the water. I dive at least 4 days a month either in quarries or the sea if weather allows come rain or snow. Last night i was awarded "most achieved" of 2011 as i'm now doing full decompression mixed gas diving to about 55 meters. And the new year will bring me an unlimited depth rating once i have finished the other trimix (mixed gas Helium) training. The planning for some of the dives can take many days as things have to be right but it's not all work and no play I dive purely for fun and have been lucky enough to see some amazing things all of which have been in the sunny UK. Diving has taken priority over most things in my life but i feel it has to in order for me to reach my goals You also never know when you may need ironphone I love wreck diving mainly in the uk as we have lots of them dotted about the coast. But will start to dive in old flooded mines maybe feb to march time as it's nice to have a variety to stay focused. But when all the hard work pays off and when i have the full uk cave diver cert in my hands i will treating my self to some amazing cave and cenote diving in mexico/Bahamas to see stuff like this
Westy
Wow-great pics. I did my open water course in Koh Tao (Thailand) in the summer. I was apprehensive and don't know if I'd like it, but it's unlike anything else and I'm so happy I decided to do it. Hoping to do my advanced course next year. edge
I have always said to people if you fancy trying it just go ahead as it may be one of the best things you do. A try dive in a pool range from £10 - £30 and usually last an hour or so but will give you an idea if it's for you or not. Good luck with your advance o/w
Gaz6002
I've now got advanced open water and wreck speciality, and I need to the do the theory part of the nitrox course to complete it. Well that just goes to show how good a salesman a dive centre owner is
hackin_n_bashin
I completed my my pad aow and rescue diver courses about 10 years ago, unfortunately don't get to dive any more uess I'm on holiday, and even then not that often as my partner has an ear problem meaning she can't go under water. Have done some amazing dives, wrecks, sharks and caves. Wanted to get back into it but just don't have the time anymore :-(
edge
Well that just goes to show how good a salesman a dive centre owner is Yes a trick used by alot. But i always dive the richest o2 mix possible. Saves on the headaches if doing 3 or more dives in a day. Downside is cost compared to regular air
Stu_Fraser
Great photo's edge Good to see things are coming together nicely. On a side note, I recently got back from Egypt and managed to get the girlfriend in the water. Needless to say she loved it, she wasn't so sure when I asked her if she wanted a go in the North Sea though
