eyefi
apparently there r two types of getrag 6 speeds. does anyone have experience of both. also i dont really understand gearing ratios, could someone explain to me the difference between the 2 boxs in actual driving terms? what & where is final drive? is the manu lsd the same as the auto lsd? 6 Speed (V160) / (V161) 1 3.827 / 3.724 2 2.360 / 2.246 3 1.685 / 1.541 4 1.312 / 1.205 5 1.000 / 1.000 6 0.793 / 0.818 rev 3.280 / 3.192 final drive 3.266(all TT) / 3.769(NA) ta. Guest Martin F
AFAIK the V161 is the six speed box offered on the later NA Supra's, hence the different ratio's.
Alex
From the looks of it Gears 1 thru 4 should have a higher top speed on the V161, 5th will be unchanged and 6th shorter... if you go to the quaife.co.uk web site you can do all the calculations to find out what the gearing gives you. The N/A Has a much higher final drive ratio which will shorten all the gears, but I think thats in the rear diff. ??
Alex
Indeed, I didn't know about the V161 NA thing till I'd posted...so I was just comparing like for like. I would assume if you do the calcs on the quaife site with the NA diff you would get a top speed of about 160...
