Boost leak or wastegate spring?

I've noticed last night that I'm not getting the boost I was getting last week, and before I start pulling everything apart I'd like some opinions on what I should be looking for.

Running a GT35R with Profec E-01 boost controller. Wastegate has (had?) a 0.8 bar spring.

Boost controller set to OFF - should see 0.8bar - hitting 0.45 bar

Boost controller set to LOW - should see 1.0bar - hitting 0.9

Boost controller set to HI - should see 1.2bar - hitting 0.9

:search:

I can't see any obvious leaks, but I haven't looked at all intercooler etc yet, I only noticed this last night on the way home. With the controller off and running on what should be the wastegate I'm definitely hearing the wastegate open at 0.45-0.5 bar, which makes me think it's the spring? Boost doesn't flutter or inconsistent in what it's actually getting to. I'm guessing as all settings are down that the boost controller can't hold the wastegate shut to the pressures set, so knackered?

Maybe time for a new wastegate anyway, I'm unsure what make the one is that's on it from the prior owner. Any reasonable recommended brands to look for?

Apologies if I sound like an idiot, this isn't my field of expertise!

Is that not sudden then:)

Apologies, I thought you meant sudden as in one second it was working fine, then suddenly it wasn't.

I just mean that it occurred at a period either when it was sat in the drive cooling down, overnight, or before I hit full boost the next time I drove it.

I would've thought with a boost leak that the boost pressure would fluctuate a bit?

Oh well, going to test the system on Saturday then!

I guess it could be a sticky wastegate valve stem, IE gummed up with carbon.

Both of you gents were correct, t'was a boost leak.

Also when up on the ramp found I have a small oil leak and the radiator has a split at the top. So new radiator and oil seals going on it this week!

Was very confused when I bought the radiator new from Toyota (with a good discount). They want the old one back or it's a £50 surcharge?? I can understand if I was buying a refurb, but a spanking new one? I guess they send it off to re-core/refurb but why do I have to go to the inconvenience of giving them the old one back??
