Jimbo
Guys before i break down and cry .... can somone help I have wired in an APEXi SAFC - i intend to get this sucker tuned properly but until then i dont want it to effect the ECU's current fueling set up. The unit already had a map in there for a different car which i have cleared and done the initial set up - so the unit knows how many cylinders etc. What i need to know is even though i have reduced all the settings on this fuel map to 0 some cannot be put to 0. Would it be possible to simply unplug the AFM wires from the ECU to the apexi and revert them back to normal - so that the AFM altering function is bypassed on the apexi unit ? Paul Whiffin
Which part of it can't you zero?
Jimbo
Hi Paul, Hi / Lo Throttle (Lo will only go to 1) Also what should i set the Deceleration Air Flow Correction - all to 0 % or **** (i.e decelration parameter is not functional) (page22 of manual) Cheers James
Paul Whiffin
No need to mess around with the throttle position, if the corrections are set to zero nothing will happen. Dunno about the other bit though.
Jimbo
So if the throttle Hi / Lo have been dropped to 0 will this effect the cars performance ? Shoul i just intilise the thing and start again ? Cheers James
Alex
IanC has one of these and has spent time setting it up he could tell you the settings for the throttle to put that back to normal. ...if he sees this thread...
Adam W
The SAFC has two different fuel maps (Hi and Lo) which can be adjusted independently. All the throttle positoion setting does is determine which map it uses when (ie you have a different map for full throttle than you do for cruising). If your Hi and Lo maps are both set to zero throughout then it wont make any difference what your throttle setting is because there will be no difference to the fuelling as it switches between them. The air correction feature is used on some car types to prevent them stalling out when a vent to atmosphere dump valve is fitted, I don't think it does anything on a Supra. No need to undo any wires, you're aboslutely fine as long as both fuel maps are zeroed.
Ian C
I agree. If you had: Hi throttle set to 60% Lo throttle set to 20% A Hi throttle setting of +20% @ 4000rpm A Lo throttle setting of -10% @ 4000rpm Then when you used a 40% throttle opening at 4000rpm, the fuelling would be adjusted by +5%. Other examples at this rev point: Throttle 10% open = -10% adjustment Throttle 20% open = -10% adjustment Throttle 100% open = +20% adjustment Throttle 60% open = +20% adjustment Throttle 50% open = +13% adjustment Throttle 30% open = -3%% adjustment Get the idea? Of course, with a zero adjustment across both hi and lo maps, the throttle position doesn't matter one jot. Also, there is a 'reset all' function on the unit you can use to zero all this stuff out as well. The deceleration function should be set to ****. And that's not a swear word, it's four asterisks -Ian
