I don't like to think of mine as a diet, rather a change in lifestyle. I quit full fat coke at home & work, no chocolate, 1 bag of crisps per day, replaced takeaway pizza/indian/chinese with chicken kebab.

I don't miss the coke anymore (water actually tastes better) and prefer chicken kebab now :)

its really bad for the last 8 days iv been eating the most unhealthiest chinese juicy chicken wings from my local and iv been more or less more ill and getting bad headaches. Iv noticed i feel more useless and ill by eating oily junk foods. So from now on im eating no oily or junk just clean healthy food. Have to say this pure vegetable juice is yuk:blink:

Definitely the way to do it. You can cut almost anything out temporarily, but when you start eating it again, you'll be back to your old self. Diets IMO are almost always temporary: lifestyle changes have a better chance of being permanent.

If you can look at the food in front of you and think, "I could eat this type of meal for the rest of my life", then you're onto a winner. :)

Absolutely right Jay, thats the only way to view it.

Jazz, seriously do not think of it as a diet. Also don't feel the need to cut out junk food alltogether, if you eat healthy 6 days a week, there's no problem having the odd take away or burger. Just don't binge on the stuff.

I did away with junk food for about 10 months, but always got cravings (and they were getting worse as time went on). Now I've found a happy medium, I don't deny myself junk food when out for a night, just keep portion sizes sensible and try not to eat anything seriously unhealthy more than once a week.

I'm the lightest I've been in 11 years :D Now lost 5st 2lb in 18 months.

Best of luck with it Jazz, if you need any advice with which foods to eat, etc, you only need ask.

You may remember my thread from nearly a year ago where I went to the Docs after having heart palpitations.

I changed my diet drastically then and, for the most part, I've stuck to it ever since. I eat some oily fish (good for Omega 3) three times a week. I echo the comments about not looking on it as a diet more as a change in your lifestyle.

I've also been exercising nearly every day since. Thanks to some common sense advice from Ian C I've now upped my running to between four and six miles at a time, five times a week.

The best part is that I have a gizmo that works out how many calories I've burnt up and I can often eat a bar of choccy plus my normal meals and still end up losing weight.

Speaking of which I've lost 3.5 stone in 11 months and it's been hardly any effort at all.
