Alarm drained battery?

Paul

Recommended Posts

I've not used my Supra for about a week and it was sat on the drive with the alarm armed and today I went to start it and the battery was totally flat, not even any dash lights!

So, I charged the battery for about half a day and all's fine now. I know the stock alarm drains the power but this sounds silly?

BTW the battery is only about 18mths old.

I regularly leave the car with the alarm on for a week or so and it starts okay.

The battery definately should have lasted more than 18 months though.

Maybe if the car hadn't been used much before the week which it wasn't then it wouldn't have been fully charged.

I bought a new battery last year and it has a fairly high capacity which is always worth it if it's not going to be used as often!

Cheers guys,

I didn't skimp when I got the battery and I went for a high cold crank rating?

Done loads of short trips lately and that may have meant it was low on charge anyway but I'll see if I can dig out the paperwork as I'm sure there was a 2 or 3 year warranty on it.

Thanks, Paul.
