When to go for thicker head gasket

The machineshop has been working on my block and head and tells me that if I use the stock gasket my CR will be raised to 8,8:1

 

should I get a thicker headgasket or just stick with this.

 

and whats the pros and cons?

I would stick with the stock head gasket, you wont even notice that small change in compression.

 

You would only use a thicker gasket if you wanted to lower the compression to run loads of boost but that would make the car sluggish off boost.
