Mrs H
Has anyone got any recommendations for a good place on Jersey or Guernsey to take a young family on holiday? I'm going to trawl the net, but always prefer advice from people who have been there Vicki x
Ian W
Spend your money elsewhere if you can. They're horrendously expensive and in all honesty there's not that much to do. HTH

HTH really I was considering this as an alternative to an expensive european holiday. Not bothered about much to do, we would be happy building sandcastles for a week Not even started to look yet. I had to fly from Scotland which was expensive and then hire a car. May work out cheaper (a lot) if you're on the south coast and can just ferry your own car over? Accommodation wise Hotels aren't cheap so I'd possibly suggest looking at self catering apartments and the likes. I'd normally suggest just avoiding it altogether and just looking at other places in Europe but with the € as it is just now you may find Jersey / Guernsey is still cheaper. Don't let me put you off as Jersey is actually lovely when the sun is out (its just very small and I got bored within a few days). Ian
Mrs H
We are NW so it would probably be a drive and ferry. LOL it's sounding like camping for us then! Vicki x

Ian W
Its not that bad over here!! Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with Jersey and I enjoyed it while I was there (been twice now). BUT it's expensive to go to and you're rather limited with what you can do (those speed limits just piss me off too ) Do you know how much it costs to take a family of five abroad!!!! Yeah, I used to work for Thomson and it's rediculous (especially prices charged through school holidays when most parents have no choice when to take their kids away)
Class One
We're looking at Britanny this year with Owners Direct There seem to be some good value gites available and if you book the Eurotunnel now and are flexible with your travel times you can get some pretty good deals. I know it's a 6 hour leisurely drive from Calais but worth it IMO.
AndrewOW
What about the Isle of Wight? That's an island off the south coast, and it's easy to get back to the mainland if need be. Plus you don't need a passport or jabs, which would be a bonus.

Vicki x I feel your pain. In fact, for the year I was there I was used to hearing it being screamed down the phone at me for seven hours a day
Frank Bullitt
If you are younger then there are the clubs and beaches, speed limits are really crap. It isn't as cheap as it used to be especially now they have added VAT AKA GST! TBH i'd say hit the channel tunnel and go to France or Amsterdam!!
