Killzone 2

Yep... spent an hour on it last night :D

It looks amazing, and the AI is very good... but the movement of the guy is sooo annoying.. it's like you play this 30 stone bloke wandering around or something? It's like limber up fatty, you're in a gun battle!

I've been reliably informed by Games (magazine) that after a few hours it will feel right, and that it's a game best played a little slower than your average GOW/Halo - in the game, the guy with me on the mission keeps sarcastically telling me to 'slow it down'. It's more 'hide and shoot' than bowl in with a chainsaw duel :D

The in-game graphics are probably the best I've seen.. so the hype is true! ..but I was still more awe struck by GOW2 to be honest.

I've not had the PS3 long.. so as soon as I've figured out the Friend thing I'll add some people :)

I'm 'SupraSonicUK' on PSNetwork, and on XBox live btw.

Truely is amazing. Not very often a game lives up to so much hype.

Atfer playing COD so much though I found the aiming manouvering like swinging an elephant. After afew tweaks of the settings though its fine.

Best £29.99 spent in a long while. Makes other good shooters look lame.... Has taken many years of development though but Im glad they took their time to make something decent and raising the bar for console fps rather than releasing it too early with glitches and shoddyness.

Im Using the control setting 'Alternate 2' as its virtually identical to COD. Just have to select 'hold zoom' too.

I hate having to learn new control schemes so this is abit of a relief. When I first started the action got abit heated, I blew myself up with a 'nade when I thought I'd fire my gun... control scheme changed after that lol.

Not tried MP yet but will be soon, add me if you wish: GazzaGSi

Cheers

Serious post alert:

If you are playing KZ2, walk your character up to one of your team-mates. Only then will you discover that you are in fact controlling a midget, and I've ruined the game for you because you won't be able to notice anything else now :D

I am very impressed with KZ2. The online playability is much better than the single player but IMO it's still got some work to do to beat good ol' COD5.

So it's a short game then.

Yeah also playing it, spent about 5 hours over the weekend. Looks great, but I still find the controls awkward, probably too much CoD :)

I dont like the controls, I love the look and feel to the game, but I think I've been getting used to other First Person shooters and am having trouble adapting to this one, there need to be more variations in the controller layouts, I'd like to move the L/R 3 button options to the 1/2 places.

I absolutely love this game. Graphically it is stunning, the DTS surround sound is first class and the gameplay draws you in nicely.

Ive played about half of the campaign, and its very well put together. As well as the usual linear paths filled with bad guys, there are a lot of set pieces that work really well - at times it feels as though you are right there being overrun and shooting for your life!

For me the online game is the big draw. Ive played hours and hours online since Friday and it keeps getting better. The new abilites and character options as you rank up keep the matches fresh and makes you want to keep playing that bit longer to reach Captain or Major.

The maps are well designed and most are pretty much symmetrical - removing any bias to one side or another.

They can be set to large, medium or small versions - removing or adding areas dependant on number of players - but even the larger maps place you in gunfight almost immediately with no running around aimlessly looking for someone to shoot!

As well as ranking up to achieve your new weapons and character classes, Sony award the top 1, 3, 6 & 10% of players a citation every week which is displayed with your rank for all to see that you kick as or play way too much (the latter in my case i think as i somehow ended up in the 10% this week!).

All in all the game is truly amazing, and its nice to have a game that lives up to most of the hype it recieves.

Its not quite the 10 out of 10 game predicted a few months ago, and probably isnt the greatest FPS ever ( i still slightly prefer GOW2 & Halo3 ) but it is one of the best shooters around and probably the best game on the PS3 so far.

Anyone who has the ps3 should buy it without question, and anyone who doesnt have a ps3 should seriously start considering the purchase!
