AlexJames
OK, I have the new water pump fitted, it doesn't fit 100% exact, but it fits well enough to work correctly. The only trouble I have is that the gasket has gone. Which gasket do I get, where do I get it from? how do I know which one will fit? Its for my j-spec TT 1993 The other option is this... would it hold strong enough? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=200313496313
dani_r
Surely if it's a stock water pump then you should be able to get a gasket from Toyota, it's can't be that expensive! Less expensive than a rebuilt engine when the pump gives way!
AlexJames
... you wouldnt need an engine rebuild if the water pump went... if the water pump went surley the car would start to over heat real quick... as long as u were not stupid enough to drive it while its over heating then it would be fine...? Any my point is, there are two types of water pumps... so which gasket is correct... hence why it might be better for me to use the gel... ...has anyone else used it before? They use it at the garage near me to fit exhausts...
