A bit OTT really.

I'd say very very OTT!

If a man hits a woman their is a big fuss over it but hey its a another low life pig so he will most likely get away with it!!

I have seen incidents plenty of times were cops have abused the law but they keep getting away with it.

I was once physically poked, pushed and provoked by a copper for no reason apart from not having a number plate on my bumper but in my window because i was reversing out the body shop as it just had been painted while his buddies stood around covering him up hoping i would strike the ugly mut so they could charge me with something.

If he was not in uniform believe me it would have been a different story![ANGRY][/ANGRY]

Apart from her being 15 she is a car thief!!(allegedly). From the video it shows a young lady who has contempt for the law and for those in positions of authority. What the officer did was over the top, but the young lady in question will now believe she is untouchable.

A short sharp shock to the young lady would have sorted her out.

BBC reporting at its best!

I had a similar situation of a guy that was trying to spit blood in my face, after saying he had Hep B..... In that case a take down was justified I feel, as I don't want to contract that potentially fatal disease

A shoe though???? That's a job loser and telling the judge the reasons imho.

It's horrible to watch and the cop's behaviour is inexcusable, regardless of the circumstances.

That said, I can't imagine the sort of provocation a lot of cops have to work with every day. He must have known that the cameras were on and that he would get crucified for what he did, which suggests to me that it was a kind of crazed attack, rather than a controlled attempt to subdue her.

Maybe at that instant, he just couldn't take any more and lost it. Everybody has their limit and teenagers, including teenage girls, can be really adept at finding it.

I'm not excusing him - I don't think that the police is the job for someone who can't control their temper, and he ought to be fired and prosecuted -but the patience and restraint needed by the police must be inhuman at times.

I agree, it was over the top and he'll probably lose his job but some people have very little if any respect for the law.

What type of person at 15 years old would have the nerve to do that with their shoes?

There’s a lot of emphasis on the fact she is 15 years old.

Frankly there are plenty of 15 year olds that act very much like adults and should be treated as such.

However, I don’t think violence is necessary either way, whether it’s an adult or child.

Of course, like most stories, you are probably only seeing half of it.

There’s a fine line between Zero tolerance & assault.

don't understand this. it is not suggested the video is edited. the police are meant to be lawful and are clearly not acting lawfully. what could possibly be in the missing half??

I think the commentary says that the video only tells half the story, but yes, it's difficult to see what might else might be revealed.

I think 'the other half of the story' could at the most reveal threats and provocation on her part, which would be an explanation for his actions, but not a justification.

Yes but even then he is not supposed to behave the way he did.

I have been provoked by silly pigs quite often round brum for no reason apart from questioning them which they dont like and have to swallow my pride and ignore them fools and carry on.

I personally dont care what the girl did or how old she was because that is what the law is there for in the first place to find out and one thing you forget is that innocent until proved guilty and so far she has been alleged but not proved to have stolen the car so could be innocent young person or mistaken identity case.

I would love to get a few minutes with that women/child beater and put him in his place and he desreves to lose more than his job IMO!!!!

You have pigs roaming the streets where you live??

I'd prefer you didn't use this term of reference please. If you could use Pretty Intelligent Guys I'd be grateful.

I wonder if there is a correlation between posters on here and posters on the nature of "if I caught some young chav messing with my car I'd pound them into the pavement" etc etc. :)

Mildly inflamatory observations aside, I side with Cliff. The provocation of the average PC Plod must be unbelievable, I'm sure I wouldn't tolerate it. But then the job is the job they signed up for.

I guess, shock horror, you get good 'uns and bad 'uns.
