MichaelG
Am sure lots of others will agree with me how pathetically cr@p TV is nowadays at the weekends. The girlfriend and i were discussing it the other day, and i could remember when i was younger (not that long ago before anyone makes a comment )and TV was GREAT on a saturday night ! You used to have programs like:- The A-Team Knight Rider Streethawk Airwolf Magnum P.I. Baywatch (boobs galore) Noels House Party Blind Date (always a decent bird or two in a short skirt ) You Bet Sportscene at 10pm with the days football, (when games were all played on a sunday like they SHOULD be !) TV nowadays is just crap, theres not even that much on digital now, and certainly no programs like some of the above Can anyone else remember any quality viewing and what we are missing now ? Oh those were the days................... Michael
Pete
>Who remembers GOOD tv ? Nope - it's been too long.
michael
Knight Rider is on right now - Bravo. Sky Digital means you get to watch all that again and more - no idea how I managed back when we just had 3 channels to be honest. These days all I need is Sky One, Living TV, Motors TV, Discovery, Nick for Spongebob and UK Gold - for the moments in between I flick through the music channels. Digsy
"Reality TV" does my head in. Can't anyone ese see that its just cheap telly? Pick a buncj of people with wildly differing views and put them in a box to fight until only one comes out, and et the public watch it. Shite. If I see another programme in the "reality" format I'll puke.
RedM
Although there was some great TV back then (how great it was to be eating burgers on a saturday eating while watching Buck Rogers) buuuuutttt there was an awful lot of shite. Anyone remember Manimal? Hardcastle and McCormack? BJ and the Bear (although the 'Bear' was actually a monkey!!!!)? Blue Thunder? Of course, there was also the brilliant Holmes and YoYo. Aerotop Dave
Noels House Party Blind Date You Bet I'm sorry, but no amount of rose tinted specs are gonna change those three into good telly!! If you want Noels House Party again just watch Ant & Dec

If I see another programme in the "reality" format I'll puke. Cant agree more....it all started with things like 'Changing Rooms' programmes about some people that work in a Supermarket and whatever etc, i mean surely people who work in a Supermarket dont want to come home and see a programme about people who work in a supermarket. There are hundreds of channels all mostly shite, The BBC for instance used to make all their own dramas in house, they even had a wardrobe dept full of medieval costumes...which is why we used to get endless dramas set in medieval times...but everythings commisioned to outside companies now so it seems even the main chamnnels have kind of thinned out more! Best things on TV for me since I was born have been! Inspector Morse. Porridge On The Busses Some Mothers Do Ave Erm Dukes Of Hazzard BJ & The Bear Blackadder Not The Nine O-Clock News Tommorows World Top Gear This Is Your Life Thats life Comic strip George And Mildred Hectors House Nobodys House Children Of The Stones King Of The Castle How we Used To Live Scooby Doo "yoooooiiiiks" he he Victoria Wood as Seen On TV Only Fools and Horses Doctor Who Screen two dramas (various) Boys from the Black Stuff Scum Allan Partridge The Office Newsnight Blockbusters (with Bob Wholesome or whatever his name is) Treasure Hunt (thats about as reality TV as it got then) Within These Walls Queer as Folk Miss World (pheeewww) Top Of The Pops Old Grey Whistle Test Summer of Festivals. HTV News (when i lived there and it was owned by Liz Taylor and rich Burton) The Good Neigbour Show (HTV Local) Programmes i hated were! Crown Court Crossroads Emmerdale Farm Dallas Dynasty Party Political Broadcasts (especially the Conservative ones he he) Friends (god how booooriiingggg) Highway with Sir Harry Secombe (bless him) Songs Of Praise Antiques Roadshow Noals House Party Celebrity Sqaures Blankety Blank Wogan Children In Need Comic Relief Fanny Craddock (cant remember her programme) Any Cooking programmes Take the High Road (that was sooooo awful) Just a few good and bad.that stood out for me But i hardly watch TV these days (no I dont remember Alma Cogin or Muffin The Mule)
Aerotop Dave
No Fawlty Towers? What about 'Game On'? Flat sharing comedy with Samantha Janus? I've got all of them on DVD, superb. Men Behaving Badly? Blackadder is a strange old beast - I think II and IV are excellent, but 1 was a bit crap and I found III really boring, and yet others think that's the highpoint of the series. (On the Buses? Best things on telly?! Typo surely...?! )

Grumpy voice: " Go on get that Bus out erggghhh" and "I'll get you Butler" Sorry have to admit although i'm not a soap addict...I think 'Corrie' has always been excellent!
