Guest Sheiken
Hey all.. My gearbox began acting up last season. It´s when shifting from 2. to 3. It shifts to hard. It also feels like it holds it in 2. to long. It shifts fine in the other gears. When its at full boost(500bhp) and it´s about to go in to 3. it feels like you push down the clutch in a manu car with the gas pedal flored and then shift in to 3. and drop the clutch. It sometimes spins the wheels at 150 km/h. Does anyone know why it does this?? When going very fast(250+) the o/d off lamp sometimes flashes. This also started last year. Why?? Hope anyone knows what can be wrong..
paul mac
at the power level you quote the auto box is on borrowed time, however the symptoms sound odd, when mine was on its last legs (at the same power level as yourself) it was very sluggish/slow at full throttle upshifts particularly 2nd to 3rd, however the od light flashing sounds like something else, do you still have the trac butterfly fitted ? oh and as this is your first post, welcome
Guest Sheiken
Thanks. Yes the trac is still fitted. I changed the oil and oil filter last year. But it was also about this time it went from bpu to single.. So its a little difficult to say what the problem is. But like you say. 500 is a lot on std box... Did it rev up like the clutch was slipping or what did yours do at gear changes??

JODY T
sounds like the torquw convertor is slipping to me...
Guest Sheiken
Hmm... I don´t think it´s the converter, it´s only a problem from 2. to 3. and not only at full trottle.

Guest Sheiken
Yeah u might be right. But still strange that it dosent slip at any time... Does anyone have some links to websites with some good pictures of the internals of an autobox and some good explanation on how it works?? Does anyone have some links to websites with some good pictures of the internals of an autobox and some good explanation on how it works?? the second to third change is usually the one that highlights problems with the box, from memory it is the second gear sprag that is a weak point and it difficult to upgrade even with a built box
