Nic
I was discussing the new Mines VX-ROM (go to: http://www.mines-wave.com/) replacement ECU the other day with my local parts shop. They claimed that if they gave my car spec to their supplier in Japan, they would be able to set a map up on the Mines ECU specifically for my car which could give a 10-15% performance increase. Does this sound feasible, or bollox? I also found that C-One do a Power ECU for the mkiv (go to: http://www.c-one.co.jp/C-ONEPARTS/ecu.html) I'll see if I can get this translated to find out what it does
Nic
Also Greddy mappable piggy back ecu with english software http://www.trust-power.com/e-man/index.html http://www.perfectrun.com.au/real_size_image/computer/greddyemanage.htm
Alex
JUN also make one..... I have got the MINES unit and my car is proven to be abnormally quick! It ran a 14.8 over 500m at 10 of the best which was only .4 behind Ian's Hybrid running 1.4bar setup...a result in my book. I've also trounced UK spec hybridised Supra's at the Pod.... I am now convinced its a good bit of kit. Real shame MINES didn't get more involved in the Supra scene
GavinL
Wasn't your car sold as fitted with upgraded turbos Alex? Originally posted by Alex Holdroyd JUN also make one..... Alex
Yeah but I think he was talking sh$t and that I was robbed...cause he also said that it had uprated injectors which we know isn't true (unless they have bored out stock ones!! ). Ian and I took the front off ot T1 and it look pretty normal to us...moved easier than his hybrids which you would expect for a ceramic Turbo...many many unknowns about the car but all that aside I would say the VX-ROM works. Guest Terry S
What can it alter over stock? Ignition timing ( get an Apexi ITC) Fuelling ( Get an AFC) Rev limit ( Pete Betts?) Boost get an EBC. With all these you are in control. This is not an ideal situation, but better than letting a 12 year old Japanese kid decide what timing or boost you should run from a far. I hate add on's more than most, but how much do these things cost. How much to remap if you change something?
Nic
They were quoting about £800 for the Mines VX-ROM with set up.
Guest Terry S
Nic it makes total sense for you as they will know the car & it's environment well, but over here it has logistical pitfalls.
Nic
Next week I will be borrowing a TOMS TechII replacement ECU to fit on my car. I have been reading up about the unit and found that TOMS have just released a data mapping programme for the ECU, I guess it will be only available in Japanese at the moment, lets hope they release an English version for the international market. Translate the following link through Babelfish: http://babel.altavista.com/tr http://www.tomsracing.co.jp/npdt/index-np-t020902.htm
Rich J
Looks like that ECU is available for every MkIV Supra variant out there, including NAs. http://www.tomsracing.co.jp/pd/tecs/pd-tecs-hyo.jpg Link
