Guest dangerousandy
I am after a Ford Puma in black for my ex-girlfriend Jodie, it must be very cheap as her budget is low, so any year or condition, non-runner etc etc not expecting one with Tax or MOT!!! Its for a mini-Supra project by the way!
michael
Have you tried the Puma forum? http://www.pumapeople.com/forum/index.php What do you consider "cheap"?
Guest dangerousandy
looking on good old ebay..... seen a few roadworthy black Puma's making between £600 - £900. I consider that cheap seeing that good/mint ones are going for £1250 up to rediculous £3000 ish.
michael
That's very cheap, I might just buy another one when mine needs fixing

I have driven loads when they were new (I was a mechanic at a ford main dealer when they came out) but not driven one in ages... even though I am a driver now for BCA! I have a '98 1.7 as a daily driver, no real complains about it at all - top links could do with a refresh and it has a bit of rust in the usual places but it's a hoot. Plenty of room in the boot, good MPG, go-kart handling, perky performance, air con, comfy over a distance... I really like it, more than I should really. Mine isn't as "tight" as others I've driven due to it's age, needs some money spending on the bushes and things but after a mild brake upgrade to the later spec stuff it's kept me entertained for many miles with no issues other than needing a new exhaust. Cool! Jodie wants one as her Vitara is way to rusty now and not really worth doing up. She loves MKIV Supra's, but she is too young to get insured on one and she is also too short to see over the steering wheel!! I said that the Puma sort of looks like a small Supra (lights, tailgate etc etc) and that I will build one for her to look like a mini-Supra (FRP replica widebody conversion, Ford Puma evo spoiler, Puma millennium Recaro interior etc). I watched Stardust last night so this comment may be heavily influenced by that fact, but that post really made me picture Captain Shakespeare acting all hard-ass in front of his crew and then suddenly turning into a 'whoopsy' when showing off his dresses. I hope your mannerisms did significantly 'camp up' when you wrote that. The thought made me chuckle anyway

I also have a puma (must be a northern thing). It's a 2000 1.7 LUX with some add ons, FordRacingPuma Inlet Manifold, it's been lowered 35mm, exhaust has been upgraded and the suspension has been changed. It's perfect for me as it's just the right size and lovely to drive to and from work. It's very capable, but obviously I never speed.

Guest dangerousandy
These are some of the mod's I am planning to do for her once I can get hold of a suitable Puma: 1, Ford Racing Puma widebody conversion (from http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk) 2, Ford Puma Evo spoiler (genuine Ford one if I can find one!) 3, Puma Millennium leather Recaro interior (when one comes up for sale) 4, Recaro Topline leather front seats to replace the Millennium front Recaros (expensive, but can be added later when funds allow) 5, Escort GTi (or maybe Escort Cosworth due to wide body) alloy wheels. I suggested these as they sort of look like Supra stock rims but Jodie wants OZ Superturismo's. And there you have it, a mini-Supra
Thorin
I like the wide body racing Puma's, but by god I think that spoiler looks horrible on them, leave it off.
michael
These are some of the mod's I am planning to do for her once I can get hold of a suitable Puma: Sounds like it would be more cost effective to keep saving and just buy a Racing Puma. I'm not a fan of spoilers on Pumas unless they really need them... e49TPk2AW5c Ni0gi1i6OGc

I'm not a fan of spoilers on Pumas unless they really need them... e49TPk2AW5c Ni0gi1i6OGc Jodie does not want a Racing Puma, and to be honest it would be a shame to modify/spoil such a rare car. I have seen Racing Puma's at around £4200 upwards, but I am sure I can build her one for much less (I worked out around £3200 - 3500 if I can get a donor car for under £1000) and it HAS TO BE BLACK!!!!!!!! As for the spoiler, Jodie does not like the Ford Evo spoiler, that is my idea as I think it makes the car look like a mini-Supra (and its a genuine Ford part!). Jodie would like somthing a bit smaller on the back, like the wing they fitted to the Puma Kitcar/Rally car. Still looking for a sub-£1000 Black Puma by the way!!! Kayla, wash your mouth out now! an FTO, thats one hell of an ugly motor, plus they are 2.0 litre.... even if she can get insured on it (1.7 Puma is dear enough) I don't thinkshe'd be able to run it or repair it if it went wrong. At least the Puma shares most of its running gear with the Fiesta, plus I'm a Ford-Qualified mechanic. I'd rather drive a standard 1.4 Puma to a FTO anyway, in fact i'd rather walk............ I agree with you about the FTO's looks. But would a heavily modified Puma be just as expensive to insure? Might be worthwhile getting some speculative quotes before you embark on a big project. Might be worthwhile getting some speculative quotes before you embark on a big project. It will be kept standard to start with so that she can build up her no-claims, then as funds allow the mods will then take place. I think it is going to be a mission finding a Millennuim Recaro interior etc
