Ewen
50 years after the Notting Hill Riots, the scriptwriters of a soap set in London, featuring several characters who happen to be black, pen an episode using the riots as a spine for the story line. Fair do's.

extendor
we are the minority, its an offense to do or say anything negative towards a minority these days. I dunno Catholics seem to be getting it pretty badly. Talk about one rule for some and another rule for others. The whole system is shambolic and the law is a playground for anyone with a cause. From my experience the least tolerant people are those who are afraid of those who play the race card. They seem to go out of their way to be seen to be looking after the interests of the underdog and yet create a more alienated and divided society than ever before. In other words those who look after the interests of others make the situation worse. To be honest I dont give a toss if they are all black or green and the sooner colour is not even debated the sooner we will see some positive feeling in society. I will call any man a brother if he behaves like one to me

Paul
How are people still racist in this day and age? Yeah, disgusting isn't it having a black only episode of Eastenders. See, we agree on some things
Nick
In my view making a fuss about this being "different" is what's wrong with the world today, had I been unfortunate enough to watch tonight without being aware of the landmark I would have thought "this is a boring episode, where is Dot?" not "Ooo look at all the black people". LOL !!! I like Japanese TV as I don't really understand what's going on so I make up my own story lines.
Thorin
I watched Neighbours yesterday, not a black person in sight. All Australians are racist obviously.

Madge isn't, she looked at a black person in Emmerdale and smiled.

Charlotte
It's interesting because I actually avoided Eastenders last night, not only did I leave the house for the whole evening, I didn't even set the box to record it. I must be a racist....or just think all *that* family are rubbish actors.

Not that I watch it or anything, but I think Chelsea is really attractive, until she opens her mouth, then her voice/acting just turns me off! extendor
Only because I'm 'force fed' it by my girlfriend, otherwise I would avoid it like the plague! Try going into a coma. She gets the company, you get the rest and you have still achieved something more exciting than watching a Soap

Did people make a fuss of the Cosby Show all those years ago? Maybe... Agreed 100% - Said exactly the same thing to the ball and chain last night. Tannhauser
I have just read this thread and I am surprised at the extent of support for 'Desmonds'. Surely it was about as funny as being stabbed in the teeth with a screwdriver?

Only if it was between her and Pat Butcher, Wellard and Genghis btw: What is it with stupidly large hoop earrings in Eastenders. Everyone wears them. The queen is Pat followed by Dawn, Mo, Denise, Stacey.
